Round ideal cut, what do you compromise, clarity or size?

So i''m in search of a diamond, I am looking at ideal cut or ex-ex AG0 H&A... basically excellent cut diamonds, however i''m on a strict budget and i''ll either have to compromise on size or clarity (no lower than a s12). I''m tempted to compromise on clarity but that''s just because i''m being vain and would prefer a bigger rock...

What would be the best thing to compromise on, and why?

I got an SI2. Guess what I compromised?

I compromised on clarity and colour and have an I SI2.


Well - compromise isn't really the right word, since I don't wish we'd had a bigger budget so I could've gone with a higher colour or clarity - I'm actually very happy with my I SI2, and any extra money would've been put toward caratage

. I don't have mind-clean issues with diamonds though - out of sight, out of mind

Thanks I''ll take a loook at some SI''s. If they''re ideal cut they should be so sprakly you wouldnt be able to tell, right?!!

What would be the best thing to compromise on, and why?

That depends on the person, some would rather have a smaller diamond and know it is higher clarity, others would rather have size and are willing to go down on clarity. Neither is better, you just have to decide which is better for you.

I'm with the others, I would sacrifice clarity. As long as the diamond is eye-clean, I don't care what the paper says.

I'm tempted to compromise on clarity but that's just because i'm being vain and would prefer a bigger rock...

Thanks, very helpful! I''m going for the bigger rocks then, whilst being careful to make sure they''re eye clean of course, and convincing my bf that potentially getting a lower clarity stone is an OK option. Originally he wanted me to get an EVS1!

Try to find an eye clean Si diamond since you said you prefer a bigger rock.

You can find an eye clean SI2. No one will be able to see the inclusions, but everyone notices a bigger carat weight.
