was it ideal cut? do people think a smaller table like 53/54 makes it look a little more dome-like?

54 is smallish but its not super small...my sweet spot for a table is 55-56 but i would consider a 54 if the other specs were spot on. just make sure the depth is not too large so you don''t lose too much weight in the pavilion.

AGS have found excellent performance and spread can be maintained down to 47% table.
You see more diamond from the side also.

windowshopper,

I currently have a stone I am considering with a 54 table. It does look a little small to me. So if I decide to look at more stones, I am going to try to go for 55-57% table.

Not if it performs well otherwise. Granted, when I hear about a table that small my heart skips a beat because it makes me think of OECs or OMCs.

First think like a man

Then think about the difference in projection of a 54 table vs a 60% table

It''s not how BIG the table is...it''s how much pressure the table can HANDLE.

No?

I can think of the fixation, but it''s hard for me to relate it to diamond tables! However, men seem to have those thoughts related to everything!

this is annoying: is Garry saying a 54% would stick out more so its better or that the diameter might be a little smaller so he would prefer a bigger looking stone?

I like the table of a round brilliant to be between 56 & 60%.

58 is fine as long as the rest of the angles and proportions work with it.

you can''t just take one piece of information and call it good. you need everything.
the knee bone is connected to the thigh bone...the thigh bone is connected to the hip bone....
you get the picture. same thing with diamonds. it all works together.
