I have been looking at some diamonds in the .5-.6 carat range to possibly go in the middle of two .3 carat stones. I found this hearts and arrows diamond and I was hoping to get some opinions on the diamond and on the images. Or if anyone has another diamond out there that will look nice that always helps. Thanks!

Looks nice! What color and cut quality are the side stones?

Thanks for the quick response! They are both I and H&A with VS2 clarity. Maybe I''ll try to post images of those as well. The HCAs on both of them come out below 2.

hearts image?

so far so good.

There is no hearts image available yet... I''ll try to ask for one I suppose

Then I thin you are on track. I was going to suggest that you make sure they all match in color but also in cut quality or facet style.

You could drop to J with no problem at all and get a bigger stone if you wanted to. ETA Diamonds in that size range show so little body color that you would never see the difference between an J and the I sides.

Okay, I will look at some Js before I make a purchase. I do not have a very big budget so maybe I will be able to find a bigger stone that I like.

Try dropping to SI1 too, there are some eye-clean SI1 stones out there. Ask JA to confirm if a stone is eye-clean if you find any that you are interested in.

I''ve requested the Hearts image for the original diamond. I have looked at SI stones on their site but I haven''t had much luck yet. I''ll keep looking though because I want to make sure it''s a great diamond.

Post the hearts image when you get it, so far the stone is looking promising.

J SI would certainly open up the budget!

looks great.

Not the best hearts image, but IS image looks good.

I don''t really know what to look for in hearts, so I was just wondering how you can tell if it looks good or not?

SC - what do you see wrong with the hearts?

I would think the variations are due to the photography, not the hearts itself

Should be fine, IS shows no leakage, at that size even if there is some it will not be noticeable.

The 0.31c could be due to image taking but the 0.30c, the 4 o''clock V and hearts is non-symm, sudden break without a corresponding mirror bad image on the other half of the stone.

Ah..makes sense.

Thanks for your help with the hearts stone. Maybe I''ll look a little more before I make these my final choices. If I am paying for a Hearts then I want to try and get the best I can find.

Just thought I''d give an update on the center stone, I requested the hearts image and today Darin sent me an email with the idealscope even though I already had it. I even mentioned it twice that I was asking for hearts.... guess I''ll be waiting a couple more days.

ya, JA has some problems with the image taking dept lately. Best of luck.

Alright well I received the Hearts image today. It doesn''t look very nice to me but I would love some opinions. Thanks!

I see the same issue stone pointed out earlier in this thread with the 6-o'clock heart - a nonuniformity without a corresponding opposite nonuniformity

Yeah I noticed that as well... it just looks off compared to some Hearts I''ve looked at.

Does anyone else have an opinion on the H&A image?

ya, hearts image not up to standard.

Thanks for the help guys. I may start looking in a different direction because my girlfriend mentioned to me tonight that she actually likes princess cuts. So I''m gonna have to start over.

hhaha, good luck. :p

At least you found that out before popping the question.

Its not a great hearts image, but you are going for a Princess now so won''t be buying this one anyway.
