Round Cracks?

Hello,

I was wondering if you have ever seen a crack around a prong of a diamond? I have a crack on my diamond that is curved and traces a prong. I have one severe crack and one smaller crack around a different prong. Do you think is from hard wear or from the prong being too tight?

Do you have any recommendations as to what I should do? Should I get a different mounting, such as a bezel setting?

I've upload some pictures (sorry it's so blurry!) of the round chip. The prong and chip in question is the lower left prong.

Thank you for all your help,
Vicki

Oh my goodness! Do you have a lab report on that diamond to show if that was there when the stone was purchased? Was the stone recently reset? When did you see this? If the diamond is insured you should make a claim and get it replaced.

I'm sorry that happened to you. I had the same thing happen to me with a small pink diamond. I know for sure the crack wasn't there before. In my case I think my diamond got dinged near the prong.

I agree with diamondseeker, if you have a report you can refer to that to see if it was there before and get it replaced, if you have it insured. I hope you can get it replaced.

What was the original clarity of the diamond and did it have any inclusions where the prongs are now located? It can also be due to the prongs being too tight, then further bumped. I'm sorry about your diamond and hope it is either insured or that it can somehow be replaced.
