We''re ready to purchase the stone on our setting that we picked up on Saturday! I''m so excited but nervous about purchasing.
DF is giving me the go to find the stone. We would like a RB that is about 1.5-1.6 ct. (1.6 would be VERY nice) a med. to thick girdle
is important since my setting is a 4 prong. my side stones are G color. but they are tiny and delicate so i''m not sure if i should worry
too much about staying on the D-F range. below is the photo of my setting. any words of advice? Thanks.

Is the percentage on the girdle on the thin side?

one more thing...
in the photos, the diamond is mounted low. my setting has a CZ in it right now and it is mounted much higher than shown. In fact, as it is now,
I can see the bottom of the CZ and it''s sides. I beleive once a diamond is mounted on it, the prongs will be cut down, RIGHT?

The specs on this stone look fine except for the price, it seems a little expensive?

Here''s a 1.53 H/SI for about 3k less

Also, you should check with your jeweler to make sure the diamond will fit in the setting you have. I think that prongs can definitely be shaved down so that the stone sits lower.

I bought the medium setting. DF wanted me to have a little bit larger stone. but not too big! lol
the medium setting will take a stone in the range of 1.5-1.6 ct. when i picked up the ring, the jeweler
brought a 1.61 stone for me to look at. so i''ve been sticking to that size since it is quite generous for my finger (ring size 3.5)
the stone she showed me was beautiful but the girdle was too thin in my opinion. they wanted 14000 for it.
thanks for the link. Does JAMESALLEN have a trade in program?

Oh, I just found the link on the JAMESALLEN info. nevermind.
they have a 30 return and a 5 year upgrade policy and somewhere in another thread, i read that
they may be changing that to a lifetime policy YAY

I don''t know if you''ve been plugging your diamond into the cut advisor above under tools. Basically 2 or below is worth considering, above a 2 should keep looking (of course unless you''re lucky to be seeing the diamond in person).

Your first diamond scored a "very good" in all cut advisor categories (a 2). You can find diamonds that score excellent in all categories except spread. Such as the one kcoursolle picked out.

What all of us I think basially do is:

1. Get the: depth %, table %, crown angle, & pavillion angle. Plug the numbers into the cut advisor and see what you get.

2. If you like what you see, then request an idealscope of the diamond to confirm the light return & pattern

We can help you find diamonds with the above information that we like.

If you want help evaluating a stone, I at least need the depth %, table %, the crown angle & pavillion angle of the stone =).
