Hello everyone! I love the community here on PriceScope and am grateful! After many months of learning and searching it has come down to these 3 diamonds. I am really needing your help on which one is best out of these to purchase. Truly appreciate your expertise and opinions.

This is an Astor cut as well however it doesn’t say on the GIA certificate like the one underneath. Also it doesn’t show a plot on the GIA certificate, should that worry me about this one ... because it does a little lol

The I color one. J is just too tinted for me.

Plus it's an ACA, so you KNOW it's going to be a beauty.

Thank you so much for your input! I was stressing over the proportion/cut being :

Table : 57%. (54-57)
Depth: 61.5 (61-62.5)
Crown Angle 34.5 (34-35)
Pavillian Angle 40.8 (40.5-40.8)
Culet None
Thin to Medium faceted 3.5% girdle thickness
Crown Height 15%
Stars 55%
Lower Girdle 75%
Upper Girdle 40 to 43. Classic (don’t fancy painting or digging)
Length to Width Ratio 1.0 to 1.3
No painting.

Cut Excellent / Ideal
Carat .9 to 1.3
Colour D to J
Clarity S1 (if eye clean). Vs1 to Vs2

I thought this would give the utmost balanced sparkle between fire/brilliance and scintillation.

I think you are right though. Going with the I colour and AGS is probably a more secure choice since it is being purchased blind.

Hi @Sparkle11 and welcome to PS.
A common misconception is that super ideal cut diamond can be achieved by matching up proportions from a lab report. The problem is that lab reports average the angles and proportions of the diamond and don’t tell you how much variance there is between the facets. The numbers also don’t grade the level of optical symmetry. That’s why analytic scope images like ASET, hearts etc. are critical. Here’s a visual we’ve used in the past which shows two seemingly identical diamonds in terms of proportions but which perform and look vastly differently:

Good luck!

Those numbers are perfect, that's going to be a stunner.

Neither the additional clouds nor the internal graining will be an issue. It wouldnt have made the ACA line if they were.

I think this should be a pinned image - so helpful in explaining why the reports are only a start for selection. Thank you for posting it!

No kidding

@Izzy70 no kidding!! Which diamond did you end up going with?
As soon as I saw the size I was like I am sure I have looked at that diamond and sure enough it was still in my wish list..
I went for this one in the end. I can’t remember the reason why but I think this is the first one I saw and decided to go for it rather than dithering!
