Round 1.5 vs cushion 2.0 ctw studs?

Hey All,

I'm trying to figure out what the best option would be as an anniversary gift for my wife: round 1.5 ctw VS1 F or a 2.0 ctw cushion with somewhat similar cut/grade? I found these 2 options very similarly priced around 9-10k.

My wife is petite and she has a round 2 ct ring now. You think the round studs would be better to match the ring or is it more for your money to go with the cushion? I also am potentially worried that the 2 ctw cushions might be too big for safety reasons, but maybe I'm over-thinking it.

I'd love to hear everyone's thoughts!

Definitely go for the rounds. Cushions can be quite annoying in the ear for some because they spin and do not stay lined up correctly. Also the sparkle of an ideally cut modern round brilliant (MRB) diamond will most likely outshine a cushion. And if her ring is a round it indicates that she likes the classic look. Nothing is more classic than round studs!

I would definitely consider dropping down in color to get the best cut possible and maybe increase size. If I had your budget, I would get 1.8 ctw I SI1 ACAs from Whiteflash.

I would also do the rounds. I think MRB or OEC"s are way more classic for studs then cushions.

I also prefer round for studs. But I also like cushion for danglies.

Plenty of people wear gigantic CZ earrings. I would imagine thieves cannot tell the difference between CZ and diamonds at the distance they choose their targets from. I would not include safety in your calculations.

Definitely go with excellent/ideal cut rounds to go with her round engagement ring. Be sure the diamonds are GIA Excellent or AGS Ideal cut. We can show you some if you want. Mine are 1.6ctw from WhiteFlash and I wear a 2 ct round diamond. I think you could easily go to 1 ct each, but that really runs up the price. I definitely would go to around H color and get the best stones you can for your budget.

These would be an example at about $10,800 for the pair if paid by wire and with Pricescope discount:

or 1.6 ctw around $8k with the discounts (which may or may not show on your links. Three prices should show.)

Thank you all for your feedback and advice. I think I'll go with the round. :)
