Hi everyone! Long time lurker first time poster.
Please let me know what you guys think of this FIC I have just purchased. I hope it’s a keeper but please be super critical and let me know if it isn’t perfect.
HCA 1.4 ex ex ex vg

Anyone? They are shipping it on Monday so i have a few days to swap it if I need too..

It's a CVD with PGT and appears to lean a little gray, but probably not enough to be a bother.
The crown angle is definitely on the steeper side, but may not be a problem. I can't tell for sure in the video, but it may be a bit dark around the crown out near the girdle (darkened uppers)...someone that is more versed in finer points of these individual facets will need to chime in.

Here are a couple of HPHT options that should also lean fiery, but they both have sample images and I can't get the videos to display correctly, so you may want to contact them to get those visual aides if you are interested

1.21 E VS2 with a 40.7/34.9/56 combo

1.21 E VS2 with a 40.6/35.7/57 combo

Thank you so much for your advice! Will possible PGT be a problem? What are your thoughts about this Diamond? Ive only just noticed (thanks to you) that it doesn’t say what the growth process was on the report, do you know why that wouldn’t be included? Besides that what are your thoughts on the Diamond and is it a better option than the first? cheers

PGT can pose issues such as striations that can interfere with transparency, light return, or create a bit of double refraction (like a Moissanite appears).

Hard to say about this other one you are asking about since the grading report is devoid of that info but, if I had a guess based on what I'm seeing, it could be a Type IIa HPHT that leans slightly yellow. I can't make a determination, though.

to lean a little gray,
With a grey background, poopy lighting the white balance setting way off on the camera any diamond would appear grey.
Am I missing something?

The biggest issue with PGT is they do not specify what it is that was done.
Full HPHT can help fix structure issues and drive off brown and some striation problems.
Other treatments are not as helpful.

It(1st one) is a very well cut fic diamond that looks good to me.
I am not seeing any obvious issues.

That’s great news! I should receive it on Tuesday so I’ll update the thread with pics and ideal scope images :)

No, you're probably not missing anything.
Good points and helpful info as always, Karl!

What does FIC mean thanks

Fiery Ideal Cut. In very basic terms its cut a bit steeper and has a smaller table which means it should have more fire

Hi @Karl_K, you’ve already commented on this post but this is the diamond I am currently getting set, it’s going to replace the one that has the digging issues mentioned in the thread on RT. I couldn’t bare it if I got another diamond that has any digging/painting or no edge to edge brightness. Do you mind having another look at this one please and letting me know if you see any reason why it would have reduced edge to edge brightness?

Hi @Karl_K! Sorry to bother you again. I managed to get some pictures with an ideal scope. Would love if you could take a look and let me know if you see any paining/digging/concerns? Thank you so much! (I’m such a worry wart)
