Thanks everyone for your help!

I showed my bf all the pics and asked him what he thought and this is what I gathered!

1. He likes platinum
2. He likes accent diamonds
3. He likes the wedding band to be able to sit flush
4. He likes thin rings as well
5. He likes filigree- but not overdone
6. He likes the TAPERED rising look! =0 He likes the sides of the ring to sort of go up to the diamond. I''m not quite sure what it''s called! I think it''s tapered shank-rising to center diamond, or something like that!


So now, the setting search begins again! I want to make sure the setting is something we both love! So far we agree on most items- just the rising taper thing, I like both with and without! I thought I preferred without, but I could settle for with! Maybe you lovely experienced people could conjure up something that I would love!


PS- how much do you think it would cost to go custom? (And which place is the cheapest custom place- while not compromising on quality of course!) And how much would engraving cost?

Wishinpink, don''t give up on a custom job from whiteflash. I just got a quote from them myself. I believed the tapered rising look you''re referring to is a cathedral, something like this perhaps. I''m not doing mine until march but what I''m getting actually sounds pretty similiar to what you have described, although no filigree and mine will be 14k yellow gold. With my quote it states how much it would be for 14k, 18k and also platinum. It does cost a bit more if you don''t buy the center stone from them. Having said that though,my quote was still within your budget range. Here''s another idea that is within budget from James Allen. When I inquired, Ashley from JA told me that they can put any head that you want on a ring.

I''d say that''s a pretty good description of what you want. Instead of tapered I''d say cathedral though. It wouldn''t hurt anything to e-mail and ask for a quote, you might be pleasantly surprised !!

I am still looking!

I contacted greenlake jewelers and the quote was too high for me =( I think I may have gotten a little too ambitious with the filigree and design... lol.

I will update when I find something!

I did find a couple more settings online that were pretty but I don''t know where they are from or how much they are. I will post them from my other computer.

Found it, it is a HOF setting, so either you have to buy from them or have it custom made I guess. It is called the "Truly Bridal Leaf Solitaire".
