I am looking at doing a solitaire style ring, with a 3 carat diamond., H-I color, super ideal cut from one of our favorite vendors here, etc. I love the below setting. I know Rose Gold is popular these days, and was wondering for people who have rose gold settings, does it reflect off/into your diamonds? I have always done platinum settings, and love platinum.

I don’t know the answer to your question, but I wanted to bump this up for you so someone might answer. :)

I think if you have a high colour diamond (so D-H/I) then a white metal setting is going to push the bling factor as you'll notice the stone more. Rose gold is pretty distinctive so you'll see the metal as much as the stone if that makes sense. I've seen rose gold do wonders for lightly brown tinted stones tho. Very romantic. I have a small OEC (about an H) in rose gold but the prongs are in unplated white. It doesn't distract from the stone which isn't that big, but I think if the prongs were in rose gold too, the stone wouldn't seem as prominent.

Oh! I just saw that you have a 3-carat beauty. Best thing would be to take it to a jeweller and see it against a rose gold setting. It's a big stone so you could get away with rose gold prongs, though I think white gold prongs would still make more sense. I also feel rose gold work best with a classic or antique style setting so it comes down to personal taste. Hope you post photos if you go that way!

I saw the setting you linked - very pretty! My suggestion was going to be to get the basket and prongs in WG and the shank in RG, but I’m not sure exactly how this design can be modified to do that since the shank flows into the prongs. But the reason I’d suggest that is because if you have a stone that faces up very white, the RG might add a tint since diamonds pick up surrounding color.

i just had a 2.4 I color reset into yellow gold (with white prongs though) and I think it looks so much better than the all white gold it was in before. I absolutely love the contrast. It looks whiter and just pops so much more.
