Hello Everyone! I am so sorry! It has been really busy/crazy here with school and work! I didn't perform very well on my last Physics test so I have to buckle down more to ensure I can earn a "B" in the class. This diamond hunting is all I've been excited about lately...can you blame me.
YES! I ended up going with this one: https://www.briangavindiamonds.com/...1.541-i-vs2-round-diamond-ags-bl-104067973007
I think it's great and while I would have loved to get something even bigger, it would have put me out of my price range. I also finally listened to y'all and decided to stay away from the "K" color. I really liked the prices of the K diamonds...but something in my mind (maybe y'all were my subconscious) told me to not do it. I also realize that I personally may never appreciate (or maybe just she won't) the full grasp of how great a super ideal diamond is, or how it may be better (to some people) than the JA diamonds I was looking at. I do however know that I feel "mind clean" and that the diamond should always be beautiful and that she will love it! (Peace of mind is a wonderful thing!)
The part that won me over was the discount promotions and the people on here bragging about Whiteflash and Brian Gavin. Oh, what also won me over was the florescence picture representations that you posted Rockysalamander and that on the website they state that all of the "blue" diamonds are inspected to ensure they are not cloudy/hazy.
About the setting. I totally agree about the head being in white gold or platinum, but if you remember she wanted the flower/tulip design very much. BG asked me about setting and I explained what I wanted. They responded back with an example. I then asked about getting the head/prongs in a different color. I will post below what they stated. (Hopefully I'm not breaking any rules)
Email correspondence:
"Hi Bill,
Great news! The design team just got back with me, we do have this 14K rose gold setting we can order in. It is extremely similar to the one you liked from James Allan and we can match their sale price of $547. This setting is 1.9 mm all around, and it is comfort fit. However, it can only fit a 1 ct stone, maybe 1.1 ct. For this setting we cannot do a platinum basket, as it comes in one piece. There is also a matching band available for $325.
This would be a less expensive option than us creating a custom item from scratch, as that process would be much more involved, but I would be happy to provide pricing on this option as well if you'd like."
I responded back that I was looking to have a larger diamond placed in the setting...
"
Hi Bill,
No problem at all! Thanks so much for getting back to me!
We can make this setting in house for a larger diamond and the cost will be $950. The lead time for this setting will be three weeks.
Do you know your girlfriend's ring size by chance?
I just checked on the diamond we discussed yesterday and it is still available!

Well...it's not available anymore!
So, this is the setting that they sent me pictures of and I think it looks great! I like how the cathedral part blends into the prongs.

So I decided to go with this setting and it is all done and ordered!
The wedding band will be later on and we'll pick those out together.
So what do y'all think?
I have to thank you all so VERY much for EVERYTHING!!! Without all of you recommending things, teaching me, and holding my hand along the way this would have been a much harder process! I can't express in words how much love and appreciation I have for all of you! Thank you a million times over!!!
Though never fear, I'm not gone just yet. I will still be posting images of the final result on here. I will however be somewhat silent until the end of the academic semester (Dec 13th). You gals/guys are an invaluable resource for people like me! Keep up the great work and who knows...maybe I will need help again one day? (I could start looking at earrings for fun!
) Finally, I'm going to recommend this forum to EVERYONE I know looking for advice!
Thank you! Thank you! THANK YOU!
