Rose Gold Diamond Color Issues

I think J/K is lovely with rose gold and will be fine with any band. I have a J with strong blue fluorescence that looks whiter to my eye than my H, and that is also an excellent cut stone.

.
There does seem to be an ever greater suply of finely cut round brilliants ... you seem to be facing tthe only conceivable downside of this flood of perfection: ending up with a hundred choices, great in every way. Not an easy choice, is it !

Hello Diamondseeker2006. No, I'm not set on JA...I thought I was. I talked with BG and am able to get financing there too. I don't think I can finance through Whiteflash though...but they do have a really nice selection! I am also now looking at a flower type of setting like this: https://www.jamesallen.com/engageme...dern-tulip-diamond-engagement-ring-item-50763 or this: https://www.jamesallen.com/engageme...e-flower-solitaire-engagement-ring-item-50164

With those type of settings I don't think I can do platinum or white gold prongs with a rose gold ring...though I could certainly be wrong. About having a low cut wedding band and cutting it? What do you mean about the cutting of it?

Valeria101, I totally misread your comments. Sorry about the confusion there! YES!!!! You are totally right! Not an easy choice at all!

Settings...

My favorite of all 6 prongs:

I have no problem with this one, which I think was your original choice, but it's not as nice as the one above.

https://www.jamesallen.com/engageme...dern-tulip-diamond-engagement-ring-item-50763 (platinum head. Ask if they can shave down that shank to 2.0-2.2mm max, 2.4mm is wider than I'd want)

thank you diamondseeker! If you don't my asking, do you prefer the JA diamonds our Brian Gavin?

Here's a random profile picture of what I mean about the wedding band sitting low. If you have the diamond height high on the wedding band, they can rub the prongs of the engagement ring and cut into them. I think that first wedding band you posted was one that would be problematic.

Sometimes it is hard to find top excellent cut diamonds at James Allen, but there were multiple great stones for your budget and specs. AGS can be a little softer on color grading, so going with a GIA I color is a really good choice, in my opinion. I also would much rather have an I color over J or lower. The measurements of the diamonds I posted for you all have measurements within the ideal range. So in this case, I think you are better off choosing one of the stones I posted.

What kind of terms is JA offering for financing? It might be better to get a 0% interest for 18 month credit card so you have flexibility in where you purchase from....but only if you can pay it off in 18 months

I plan on paying anything off with the tax return. I can't remember the terms unfortunately. I don't remember if it was a deferred interest if paid off in 6 months or 10% APR. (I know really bad of me!) Though since I plan on paying it all off in about 6 months and making monthly payments in the mean time I wasn't too worried.

Thank you Diamondseeker for your suggestions! :)

Decisions, Decisions! Okay, well I have to finish some work for my classes and have to study for exams. Been putting it off because this is way more fun! :) I will be on later tonight, tomorrow night, and every other night. ;-) I will also let y'all know what BG says about rings/settings. Again, thank you for the wonderful suggestions and recommendations! By all means, feel free to offer more ideas and don't worry about offending me!

DS's choices are #22, new (#61), #9 from your giant list. So, both DS and I recommended #22, but DS top choice was #61. I like keeping thing neat and organized like your giant list :mrgreen2:.

Just be aware that diamonds will be selling fast as many get engaged at this time of year and I would assume production dates may slip by a week or more.

I like things nice and neat too! Helps to keep track of things!

What did we say about flourescence?

Re: Flour. I love it and want it as strong as possible provided it does not impact the stone. Others vary. But, summarizing the GIA "its much ado about nothing" unless it will bug you that the diamond may glow a bit in strong UV light (very bright light, but your pupils will be contracting making seeing color hard), dark nightclubs/dance clubs and laser tag gaming arenas. To me, its a cool thing that makes my scientist' heart happy.

What is not to love when your diamonds do this under the right light?

Sadly, you mostly see this (aka nearly nothing).

Thank you so much!!! Very easy to see the difference! :)

Rocky...I'm conflicted. :( That is a lot more than I want to spend. They are all so pretty though!!!!

What should I do?

Champagne tastes and a beer budget. I feel your pain my friend.

If it was me, I'd drop my size expectations. Really. That's my best advice. If you want to stick with BDG, this is a good option at a less painful price.

But, frankly, you could get these from JA and be over your size goal of 1.5 and be under $12k.

https://www.jamesallen.com/loose-di...rat-i-color-vs2-clarity-ideal-cut-sku-3240189 {near perfect IS. tiny inclusion in table that will be invisible to the bare eye-ask JA to confim}

Pick a different cap and we can find some options if $12k it still too high.

What do you think lalala? :)

For me, I would not buy a K without her seeing one and saying she is happy with them. BGD upgrade policy will require you to spend 2x cost and raise 2 of 3 color, clarity or size. That is a huge risk if she does not like the K color.

The VS2 I is nice and better priced than JA options. I like this better than the K, personally. IS is not perfect. But, neither are JA options. This seems like a good compromise to get to a super-ideal.

I like that 1.54 I from BGD and honestly, with the 10% discount on a super ideal....you'd be crazy to pass it up!

Are you comfortable with that price though? I'll echo what others have said, I'm not a fan of financing but if you are comfortable with it, then go for it!

Let me put it this way: I'd have a hard time picking just one diamond from this thread ,-)

So Burkes fine jewelers is a nice place, but they are very small and don't keep any diamonds in house. : (

Sorry. Its been over 15 years since I live out that way.

I asked my family and my dad says there are some stores out toward Richmond, VA. Hauser's Jewelers (he has not been there in a long time, but said give a call. They used to have diamonds in house). Otherwise, he said just have a drive around Newport News. There used to be a few shops that had diamonds. Maybe check if there is a Diamonds Direct within driving distance. They sell GIA stones at B&M locations (the closest I see if Virginia Beach).

It's all good! I appreciate the help very much!

Update? Did you go with the BGD signature?

When you get to picking a setting, even with a rose colored setting, white metal settings would be recommended. I like the Melissa Cathedral from BGD (4-prong), Juno, Gaia, and Freya,
