Hi everyone,
First I'd just like to express my absolute astonishment at how much valuable information exists on this forum! I have learned a great deal just lurking about for the last little while.
Here's some background: I am looking to replace a barely 1-year-old engagement ring. It is an all-platinum cast of a 2 ct. Asscher cut diamond (so no actual diamond -- just 950 platinum polished to resemble the shape and faceting) that I ordered from Etsy. I fell in love with the concept, loved how it looked in the images, but of course after just a few days of limited wear, the surface of the ring looked horrible. I try to keep it sparkling, but there's no masking the surface scratches. My fiance and I will rework this block of platinum into his wedding band; in the meantime, I get to upgrade my ring.
For the last few weeks I have been glued to this 14k rose gold morganite halo set from the RareEarth Etsy shop:
http://www.etsy.com/listing/103123127/14k-rose-gold-morganite-wedding-set
I love that it's monochromatic, but still slightly unusual, and the tones very much suit my personal colouring -- I was even planning to wear a blush/peach dress on my wedding day. I also love that it's a lot of stone for a really reasonable price.
Is there anything you can tell me about workmanship and quality based on the images in the listing? I've seen (what I think is) the exact same setting from other sellers on Etsy and eBay, so I'm pretty sure they're ordered from a supplier -- fine by me. Has anyone ordered anything from RareEarth? They have been recommended a couple of times on PS in the past, but no one had any testimonials. The feedback in the shop is very enthusiastic, and the shop policies are reasonable. I've communicated quite a bit with the seller and she has been extraordinarily helpful and very fast at replying to my questions.
Any specific questions I should ask before buying? Anything standing out in this listing as being problematic or poor?
Anyway, I'd really just love any feedback or words of warning you may wish to share!
Many many thanks!
