Rose Cut Diamond Concern

Hi!

I'm posting on this account because I don't remember making that old one!


I'm looking to upgrade to a Rose Cut diamond, but the designs I love and the stones that are available are mainly through instagram and etsy

I love xothebijoubox and cvb inspired design, but neither are gemologists and they don't seem to have certified stones. Are certified rose cut diamonds a thing? I'm just so weary of trusting someone on Etsy.

Rose cut diamonds are popular in India and are often found in stores that serve people of Indian descent. That might be an option.

Any diamond can be sent to the GIA... I’ve seen some rose cuts sold with GIA reports but it certainly isn’t as common as with brilliant shapes. GIA doesn’t specify a cut grade or anything like that - primary value would be to have an authority’s opinion on colour and clarity; if you find a stone you like and you want a report (and are willing to shoulder the extra expense) most vendors will be happy to work with you.

Actually CVB does have rose cut resources that provide GIA certs. You have to reach out to her though so she can see what’s available

I was recently looking at a rose cut from Caysie that definitely had a GIA report. But if she offered me a rose cut stone one without one, I wouldn't care at all as long as it wasn't super expensive (like over $5k or so). Her mark-up on stones she sources is not high. And her work is outstanding.

I have a rose cut in a CvB and it has a cert from GIA. Caysie's designs are gorgeous and unique and the work is superb!
