Diamondseeker: Those are both very nice. I would probably prefer the second simply because I appreciate the L/W ratio more.
Excuse my naivety, but can you tell me why neither of those that I posted are decent? I am so new at this and wanting to educate myself as much as possible before making a decision. The consultant I chatted with on the site said that the H VS2 was too dark, but the F VS2 was nice.

Diamond newbie/rookie here! Is it possible to find a decent emerald cut, around 1 ct in size, VS2 clarity for under $3500? I found these two on jamesallen.com....any feedback on either of them is greatly appreciated!

The one on the left is all dark and the one on the right has a slightly weak middle. It is still a nice EC though, so I would keep it on the back burner as you continue to look around.

I don't think either of the first two would be good. I looked at F-G-H, VS1-VS2 and there were very few I would consider possibilities. Here are a couple, but they are a little over budget.

Sorry, but I would pass on these. The middle just never comes "on" as the ECs turn.

Hey EC experts, how about this one?

I posted more high color ones bc I generally notice more tint in step cuts.

Oh, I like those a lot. Would love to see Jon make a video featuring those 2 ECs.

OP, please forgive me for jacking your thread but I must ask Chrono why she likes these. I am very much a newbie myself.

I agree. Both are stunning. Ask for a video.

As for why? The step distribution, the shape, and the ASET performance is what sets them apart. Plus they both have acceptable crown heights of over 12%.
