Hi guys, I have been reading your comments for weeks! and I can tell you are really pasionate about diamonds. I live in Guadalajara, Mexico and I was wondering if it would be a problem to buy a diamond thru the Internet?? what can you tell me about it? Many thanks in advance guys!

so far everything looks fine, but we really need crown and pavillion angles to say whether it''s well cut or not. Sorry, I have no idea about ordering from Mexico. There are some people from non-US here, hopefully they will chime in.

flouresence: strong blue (is it baaaaad or good??)
Crown angle: 36°
Pavillion Angle: 40°
Medium girdle.

Anyhow, the GIA cert. says: "Profile not to actual proportions" What does it mean???

Flourescence is usually fine. Only in rare cases does it impair performance. It''s more of a preference thing, and I personally like it!

Crown angle is a little high.

"profile not to proportions" means that the drawing of the diamond on the cert isn''t proportioned liked the actual stone. Not really a big deal if you are looking at the numbers.
 
Pavilion angle is too low to support that crown. There''s probably a good reason why that stone is $4500

Desirable parameters for crown and pavillion vary from person to person. One thing you can do is plug them into the HCA. If all of the specs get under 2, then the crown/pavillion combo should be fine.

Personally, I like parameters from 34-35/40-41 and an HCA under 2.
 
usually CA between 32-36, PA 40.4-41.4
But more unorthodox angles, around 30 or 37 CA could work with the appropriate combinations.

Generally, I think the shallow end (lower left hand side of the graph,) you want to be to be above the dotted line, which is GIA's target.

and then on the steeper end (going to the right and up) you want to be below the solid line.

And on the left end (BIC) and right end (FIC) within GIA's box and AGS's box, respectively.

Most people would probably use only the AGS box, or where the two coincide.

And then from there you can start getting pictures.
 
THANKS! what about if I do not have the culet %? the GIA cert. is blury!
 
you don't need it if you're using angles. culets large enough to make a difference are somewhat rare, anyway.
