Thanks for any insight,

Michelle

I just saw that Bailey Banks and Biddle carry his designs, but I haven''t seen them in person. Maybe if you are close you can drop in and ask

It''s so funny that you posted this, because I just did a search yesterday for his designs.

There is a website that I found that carries his designs called maurice badler and I remember that Mara liked his circle of life pendant and slammie mentioned that she knew someone who sells his jewelry for a good price.

I was thinking about getting one of his pendants, I like the heart one b/c it''s so small and cute and the wishbone.

I remember reading somewhere that the diamonds he uses are g/h vs/si, but i can''t be certain if that''s accurate.

I remember slammie also mentioning that she has two of his pendants, so she would be a good person to ask.

Thanks everyone. The necklace I''m considering is the small circle of life one that Mara mentioned previously. But, looking at the bizrate website it says the .62 tcw circle of life is around $1300 and the one I''m looking at is only $435 so I''m not sure if this will make enough of a statement, but I''ll go to BB&B and post what I find out and see how much one around 1/2 inch costs. My birthday is in december so it''s time to pick out another fun item!

i went to saks & picked up a pamphlet... their gimmick is 100 facets - the "cento" diamond. the saleslady said all their diamonds (the .25ct & up only i believe) come w AGS certs. They also give you a "prismatic scope to enable you to admire all the unique qualities".........

35.gif

my fav part of the brochure was the section labeled "appreciate the difference" cento vs generic - one of the bullets under cento was floral pattern (generic = no floral pattern)..... ya know, it's really imp when you buy a diamond that the pavillion look somewhat like a flower - think of all the times in your life you'll look at the pavillion & be disappointed if you don't see a floral-eque pattern

I can''t answer your questoin about the diamonds but I have been a big fan of RC designs for a few years now. I have several of them including the pave earrings, a pave ring that I got in St. Thomas which I think must have been a discontinued design since I have not seen it anywhere else. (I made RC verify it was in fact, their piece).

I also have a bracelet by RC. I like that little heart pendant but I am on a jewelry moratorium for a while since I just upgraded my e-ring.

I work in a jewelry store that sells Roberto Coin "Cento" diamonds and I can tell you that they are beautiful. A bit more expensive than a regular 58 facet round diamond, but I like them enough that I am seriously thinking of buying one.

so funny that you posted this--i was just looking up his stuff the other day too! i was going to start a thread about this but since i've permanently got diamonds on the brain these days and it's almost xmas, i'm scoping around for a relatively inexpensive (i JUST got my e-ring remember) piece that i can reasonably ask my FI for for xmas. i too love that circle of life pendant that mara was talking about (jflo got one like it too!) and the half inch might be perfect--understated and in the right price range. michellecarmen, do you happen to have a link to the half inch? ive only seen the full inch.

anyone else have any ideas for a cute piece in the $500-$700 range?

edited to add--just noticed that this thread is a week or two old (sorry). MC, any updates? did you see the necklace in person?

ooooh, very pretty! thank you!

is it possible that the whole darn thing is only .10 carats? that doesn''t seem right to me. what do you guys think?

anyone seen this necklace in person, or anything similar?

Check the Nordstrom.com website as well as the Bellevue and Seattle Nordstrom fine jewelry dept.

Reena,

Yeah, I was wondering the same thing after I found out the diamond weight. Ten points TCW seems odd. We're talking itty bitty chips here and I'm not sure if this is acceptable. lol I'm also on a slim budget for my birthday on Dec. 18th and I do want jewelry, so this price and style is ideal, but I still haven't driven out to the mall nearest me that sells RC pieces because I'm too lazy! lol Well, actually just haven't had time with major house renovations and tons of other obligations to keep me busy right now.

I'm actually having issues with what I want with my little b-day budget! I'm also thinking a simple platinum necklace from BN or a replica antique ring made with a small diamond I already own. . .or maybe a Tiffany necklace in yellow gold (for something different). Ah, lol. Let me know what you end up picking out!

The circle looks about as wide as the chain! Surely possible. All y0u need is small diamond half pointers or so

and some metal inbetween them. For ref, the same size would be used to pave the prongs or baskets of some ring settings. I am always amazed at the cutting of these microscopic gems

Earlier this year around April I went on a hunt for horseshoes. My girlfriend loves horses so it was pretty much a no
brainer for a gift. After looking around at a lot of crap, and then the RC pendant, and then some more crap,
I went back to the store with the RC pendant, talked them down in price a bit and purchased it.

It was by far the most beautiful and the best constructed. As to the quality of the diamonds I can''t speak
but its really a nice piece in 18k White Gold.

I''d post the link except Robertocoin.com is all Macromedia Flash...

Thanks for your input. Which store were you able to bargain with? The store I planned to shop at is Bailey Banks and Biddle, but may also try an online seller since the price is cheaper and there''s no sales tax.

My roberto coin experience!!!
I was going to post pictures once I got the Ritani set.

Anyway, last week was my birthday, and I went to BBB to check out how big the RC pendants really are. I was interested in the heart pendant or the wishbone.

I went to the store and was surprised at how small the heart was. They did not have much of a selection, but I did see one pendant that I liked, a star, that I have never seen online anywhere. I liked it because it had two sizes on the chain, one at 15 inches and the other at 16 inches. I figured that was a good thing b/c I would let my daughter wear it some day.
I told the salelady that I liked it, and she mentioned that she would give me 15 % off. So, we bought it.
I have never seen it before and I have always liked star jewelry. It is not a perfect star, some of the points stick out more than others.

Next pendant....

Anyway, because I liked the RC pendant so much, I did a search on ebay last Thursday to see if I could either get the wishbone or the heart pendant for a good price.

Instead, I found the most beautiful thing I have ever seen!!!!!!!
A little background. I like butterfly stuff and have always wanted a dainty pendant. I bought one from Fortunoff''s for my daughter when she was one year old and was always tempted to by the same one for myself, because I have never seen any butterfly pendants that were nice.

Lo and behold, I find a Roberto Coin butterfly pendant on ebay! It only had one day left before it ended. It was beautiful and the person was starting the bid at $269, with a buy it now for $299.

I emailed her about the pendant and she sounded legitimate,so I bid. I figured I would win, because the listing was for 7 days, and 6 days had gone by with no bids.
Sure enough, once I bid, some other people bid! And the buy it now option disappeared.

I did some research on the pendant that day to find out more about it since I have never seen it anywhere before, either in a store or online.

I was able to find two stores that sell it with a discount. The retail on the butterfly pendant is $820. It has .31 points of diamonds that go around the entire frame. Topper''s said they would give it to me for $656 and Maurice Badler for $720.

When I found out the actual price, I tried to do the buy it now option, but it disappeared.
I was so worried that I would lose, because now 3 other people had bid, that I rushed home on
Friday morning and put a maximum bid of $500 at exactly the same time the listing was about to end.

And I won!!!!!!!!
I got it for a total of $300.72 including shipping and insurance. As soon as I was certain I won, I paid through paypal. The seller shipped out the pendant fast, within two hours of the list ending.

Today, I got the pendant!!!! It is absolutely the most beautiful thing I have ever seen.
30.gif

I think I love it more than my rings!
I wore it to work today and three people commented on it right away. It is a little bit bigger than I expected for a tiny treasure piece, but I absolutely love it!!!!
30.gif

This is the best ebay purchase I have ever made! I really can''t believe my luck, because if I had not won this pendant on ebay, I would definitely be getting it from toppers for their discounted price.

The third pendant.....

Okay, I don''t have it yet, but I plan to order the tiny open heart pendant or the pretzel pendant from Topper''s.

By the way, I should be getting my Ritani tomorrow!!

kayla wow! you''ve inspired me! the butterfly pendant is adorable. now, the star--i think i''d LOVE the star!!!! im dying to see a picture of that one. pls post if you can! or do you have a link?

MC, lol, i am with you. .10 carats? i might need more bling! lol, jk. but seriously i wonder if i couldnt find a nondesigner version of the bigger circle elsewhere for less. anyone seen one?

i might have to start a new thread about this on DH. im so excited at the prospect of more diamonds for xmas!

oooh... thanks libster. that one is pretty cute. i think i''m still liking the round one though. i might have to take a trip to my friendly neighborhood saks this weekend to try one on.

(hm, thanksgiving weekend in new york city--i''m sure all the stores will be dead. HA!
14.gif
NYC is far too crowded for my tastes as is; holiday weekends pretty much make me want to self-mutilate. ah, the sacrifices we make for diamonds. . . .)

LOL....All of that NYC shopping craziness would freak me out!!

We visited NYC last December for the first time and took one of those double decker tours. All started out fine until I realized many people use this as a means of public transportation!!! I first thought, "what a novel idea to have a "get on, get off" option....then we made our first of MANY stops. The tour operator would have to get up and count the people leaving and then allow only that number to enter the bus, from the MASSES waiting to get back on!!! Needless to say the 2 hour tour went on for 4 hours!! I longed to jump off at Bloomies, but knew I''d never be able to get back on......

I feel your shopping pain in the incredible sea of people!!

Have you ever taken at look at www.rosssimons.com ? They sometimes have really unique pieces and excellent prices.

Good luck in your search

thanks libster!

your description of your trip to NYC practically made me break out in hives. there are just too many people for my tastes in this darn city. i crave SPACE like you would not believe.

Actually, that's not it.
That is the star of david, I have a five pointed star. I am not completely sure if I will keep it though, but I do have 30 days to return.

Reena, If there is anything you are looking for in particular, I would probably call Topper's and describe what you want and see if it is made by RC.
Alot of his designs are not carried in the stores and need to be ordered.
I will post a pick of the star and the butterfly today.

By the way, my ritani set is in, but I am too lazy to drive to NJ. Hmmm, maybe I should?
2.gif

PLEASE DRIVE and get it!!!! we are all dying to see it . . .you must be too!

cool, im glad that there is a different RC star! i''m anxiously awaiting pics . . .

Here is the star pendant

Here is the star and the butterfly, you can see how dainty the star is compared to the butterfly.

..oophs, here it is..

OMG--i can''t see the star/butterfly pic still, but I LOVE IT! it is soooooo cute. do i have any chance of getting a neck shot? or is that pushin'' my luck?
