Hi everyone. I''ve been reading for a few weeks now, as my boyfriend and I are starting to shop for rings. It''s overwhelming, to say the least! I was hoping y''all could help with a Ritani setting we''re considering. Here are my questions:
1. Robbins Brothers has the ring. I''ve read some negative comments about them, but I must say that the person I''ve been working with is the most low-pressure guy I''ve ever met. He has no problem with our using our own diamond (which we will buy online), and he would send it to Ritani to have them set it. Since it seems that the designer settings are not discounted (that''s what I''ve read here, anyway), what is the *disadvantage* of buying from Robbins Brothers?
2. We were thinking of going with something in the 1.7k range for the center stone. The RB guy thought this was too big. What do you guys think? I like clean/simple, and would probably go with a plain platinum band.
3. I know that you pay a premium by buying a loose stone at a B&M vs. Internet. To give me some perspective, how much of a difference do you think it is as a rule of thumb? 10% more? 20% more?
Thanks!
