This is a wonderful forum! I ran across it searching online so thought I''d throw my question out there for feedback...
I saw a gorgeous Ritani at Bailey Banks& Biddle but the setting is platinum and apparently you cannot have it made from white gold. It was a bezel set princess cut center stone with pave set diamonds running around the band.
Is it OK to take a picture to a jewler and have it made from white gold? Would it be best to just go ahead with the platinum I''ve heard mixed reviews on platinum...
Love to hear any thoughts on this...

I'm sure there are very competent jewelers than can replicate the ring you want in white gold, but make sure that they have an excellent reputation. I recently went to a local jeweler and was told that he could design anything I wanted...ANYTHING! Well, he couldn't. After anxiously waiting over 2 months to see my ering, I was devastated to see what he considered beautiful. He was to design the ering and band to look like a Tacori design. The rings were just aweful! Nothing matched, the prongs were uneven, the ering was too thick, the band did not look at all like the ering. He then told me that when you get custom work you cannot expect perfection. Ugh

! Can you believe that! Thank goodness he did return my fiancee's money. I'm sure someone here at PS can steer you in the right direction.

After lurking around Pricescope for a while, I had read wonderful things about Whiteflash so I decided to call them. I'm happy to say that we ordered my Ering just last week. They are the most professional people I've ever had the pleasure of dealing with. I spoke with Denise, Leslie, and Bob, and they were all just wonderful

. My new ring should be in next week. We also purchased the diamond from Whiteflash as well (I will post pics & stats of it later today) and I'll post ring pics once I receive it. I can't wait!

Good luck...

I believe settings with a bunch of pave diamonds are made out of platinum for durability reasons... You don't want all those little shiny diamonds falling out! If this is in fact the case, you probably don't want to go with white gold. You almost certainly can't have the ring coated with the shiny rhodium that people seem to like about white gold, since those little stones shouldn't be coming out very easily...

If your sole reason is because of those "mixed reviews" I'd ignore them. Plat is a more durable metal and, if the whole problem is the scratching thing, I doubt it would be an noticable problem with a paved ring.
