Hi all,

Call me crazy, but I still have not been able to find a setting for my EC that I really like. My first custom job was a disaster, and the simple setting it''s in now is boring. It''s been sitting in my jewelry box for months. I was thinking about trading up the round that''s in my engagement ring to a 2+ ct. Well, those plans were dashed after I found out the price difference. Yikes!! I think I will have to put that one on hold till some significant anniversary (we''re not even married yet).

So, I was thinking, maybe I should turn my attention to a setting for my EC that I will finally love. So, here''s my question: What do you guys think of a setting like the Ritani (i.e. thin platinum pave band) with diamonds going only halfway around? My emerald cut is more rectangular than it is square. I contacted Bob at WF and he''s been very helpful. He said he wouldn''t go thinner than 2mm which would mean approx. 1.7 mm ACA mellee. I''d appreciate any feedback!! Thanks!!!!

Here''s another photo of the look I''m going for. This setting has .33 pts of pave diamonds. If you can believe it, I was quoted $15,000 for the semi-mount ALONE!! Yup, no center stone, just the mounting. Why? It''s a Daniel K. I still can''t quite believe those prices, but it came from a reputable source.

I think an EC would look stunning in a setting like the Ritanni. I can''t wait to see what you come up with!

I think that''s a lovely setting, and one that should be pretty easy to make. It certainly shouldn''t cost you as much as a Daniel K!!!

Those settings are so classic, I think any diamond shape would look lovely in them. I think your emerald would look great in it!
