Hello all!

i have posted a few about the Ritani endless love solitaire (w/o halo), and here''s my deal... i absolutely LOVE LOVE LOVE ritani and desperately want that to be my e-ring BUT i have heard to buy the diamond separately. which brings me to my problems, i have heard ritani wont sell the settings, which is fine because i have heard that BBB, solomon, and pearlmans can do that for you! which is great!! my next deal is that we are not made of money and want to consider CZ''s for the pave (to save money)i would rather have a larger diamond (i like size

) ...soooo if you have answers please help!!!

1) the diamond i want separately is emerald cut, will one of the 3 i have mentioned above still set the emerald cut to a ritani setting?
2) what is the going cost for shipping if needed?
3) is it possible/will someone put CZ''s put in the pave part as well as the wedding band?
4) is that completely crazy to put CZ''s in the pave to save money?

thanks!!

I don''t believe you would save all that much money for using CZ''s in your pave a lot of the expense of pave comes in the labour of actually putting the stones in.

Have you possibly considered getting a plain temp setting and upgrade the setting down the road :)

well thats the whole reason for possibly putting CZ''s in.... i just LOVE the pave look. i love the simplicity but drop dead gorgeous look of the ritani endless love with the princess cut...BUT the emerald (to me) is much simpler and more my style. thanks for your input though. i definitely appreciate it!

anyone else know anything about my question above??

one other question!!

i have also heard that you should not go to the mall to buy jewelry! especially engagement rings etc. BUT the only BBB around my area is located inside malls? is that still a reputable resource or should we deal with them online? which is why i was concerned about shipping costs. thanks a bunch!

If I was trying to cut down the expenditure , I think I would be inclined to put a cz in a real setting before I would put a real diamond in a cz setting. The labour is a huge component of the pave setting and to set cz would be throwing good $ after bad. imo

Alternitively I would just get a pave eternity ring that was top quality. It will pass the test of time, can be worn alone or with another or as a rhr. It is very blingy and classy.

1) yes, you can get an emerald cut set into that setting..

2) depending on the value of the ring, registered mail is usually around $30 for 10K

3) probably not and I doubt you''d save any money, pave is labor intensive as mentioned above and that is what drives up the cost.

4)yes...

5) BBB is very reputable, many pricescopers bought their Ritani''s from them. I''d prices shop among the vendors you mentioned and go with the best price.

Yes, it is completely crazy to ask any jeweler to put non-diamonds into a gold or platinum setting. You're basically REDUCING the value of the setting & the metal. Metals are so high today -- and non-diamonds will go milky over time & look awful. Then you'll have the valuable metals all gunked up with blech and the labor of removing the blech will be far more than replacing the bands entirely.

It seems like a completely short-sighted, ill-advised strategy. THIS IS YOUR E-RING & WEDDING BAND .. not a QVC fashion purchase!

Just get a solid metal (gold or platinum) setting & wedding band for now. And add a pave band to the mix sometime when you care to spend for the "real thing".

Tons of people set CZs as center stones in valuable settings. CZ pave with a real center is uncommon for good reason. Pricescope, however, is NOT a good place to talk about setting a CZ center... but there are lots of forums that will support that choice if you want that.

Everyone has already answered in detail why you wouldn''t even consider this idea. But I''ll just add that the main cost of a Ritani ring is the name brand, the metal, and the labor. Those teeny tiny diamonds in the setting would only add up to a very small amount of money. You certainly can ask if they make the rings in white gold instead of platinum and that will save a lot.

One more thing. The jeweler should not set your stone into the setting. They would send it to Ritani and Ritani would set your stone. You just need to ask if Ritani will set an emerald cut. I know I have seen round and square stones in that setting.

Ritani will set any stone you want into that setting. Anyone who tells you otherwise is crazy themselves.

And yes you are crazy for wanting CZ pave. The cost is in the workmanship, not the tiny diamonds.

And yes you are crazy for trying to get a replica if the endless love is your dream ring. I haven''t seen anything that comes close to looking the same that isn''t MORE expensive.

Ritani will make that setting for an EC. I've SEEN an ritani endless love solitare EC so I know it's true.

The cost of pave settings are not stone driven they are labor and metal driven.

Ritani does white gold and palladium endless love settings which cost significantly less than their platinum counterparts.

Yes. It is completely and totally insane to do pave CZs.

Get a completely plain cheap setting until you can afford the real thing. Small pave diamonds aren''t expensive-as everyone else has said, you''re paying for the labor and the metal.

It''s ridiculous to swap out tiny diamond for CZs, and I doubt any jeweler would actually do that anyway.

Thank you so much for your input! i will definitely not consider CZ''s for my pave now! i actually like the look of white gold instead of platinum so that is definitely the route i will go! so sorry if i offended anyone with the CZ idea, i just thought it would be a good way to knock off some of the price, and then "upgrade" to real diamonds as an anniversary or something. but thank you for talking me out of that! dont really want a milky looking diamond band!

i got a new question for yall now....

are reputable vendors (like BBB and solomons) located in malls still ok to work with? ive heard horror stories of going through places in malls.

thank you ladies!!

Leslie

BBB is fine, but the service seems to be varying at best. And you''ll probably also pay quite a bit of a premium. So if $ is an issue, I would most definitely avoid the mall stores and buy from a PS vendor. You might also want to give Mark @ ERD a call.
