For our anniversary, DH and I decided to reset my beloved solitaire into a 3-stone. The plan was to get two .6 sidestones to add to my 1.53 center stone. Well...the time came to look at 3-stones, and I decided to try on a few halos to "rule them out." My DH and I have always somewhat been against halos, especially large halos, and then I actually tried a few on...The rest was history...
I tried on this Ritani Masterworks cushion halo, which was everything I thought I disliked in a setting (i.e., halo in general--I thought I was a solitaire girl; larger halo stones; larger side stones on the shank). Once I had it on my hand, my husband and I were in love! Finger coverage is sort of a given with a halo, but it makes my actual diamond look bigger (not just the ring itself). Also, there is just enough space between the diamond and the halo so that the center stone still stands out as the star! I also customized the setting so that the diamonds in the shank go all the way around. This was an expensive customization, but I am SO glad I did it!
I won't have the official appraisal until tomorrow, but I believe the halo stones are 2 pointers and the stones on the shank are 6 pointers. Again, my diamond is a 1.53 D SI2 (eyeclean). The melee and BEAUTIFUL!!! I see tiny little arrows all over the place!
This setting/bling takes a little getting used to (coming from a solitaire), but I am coming around quickly
.
Now for the pics...
