I’ve been looking for setting ideas for a cs I hope to set soon. This will be my first time with a custom order so there’s much to learn before I progress. I plan on going to a b&m to try rings on, but staring at pictures for as long as I need gives me time to think and ponder.

My cs is a 6x5mm cushion and I’m leaning towards diamonds on either side, but that’s certainly not set in stone.

I wear a 4.75 ring and my hands are basically kid sized. I’d really appreciate pictures of rings/settings on smaller hands. :kiss2:

Thanks!

I wear a 4.5 on my left, which is usually where I model my rings so I can take pics with my right hand. If you search my threads, you can get see different sized stones in different types of settings.

You have some lovely halos and your purple garnet helped me with size. Thanks!

My fingers are very thin and long, not kid sized. I wear a 4.5 on the left and 4.75-5 onthe right (depending on the ring). I only have a handful of stones over 3 carats. I try to stay between 1 and 3 carats for a center stone.

Would you like to see rings on a size 2.75 / 3? I can help!

A 7 x 6mm oval sapphire in a halo.

A cushion padparadscha sapphire in a halo. I can't remember the dimensions and the paperwork is somewhere, but in terms of carat weight, it is roughly 0.9 carats. And my finger size for my middle finger is roughly 4.5.

I know this is not a coloured stone but this diamond is 0.75 carats and 6.5 x 5.4 mm. Hope it helps you to make a good gauge somehow!

And finally, my teensy weensy fancy coloured diamonds in halos. I think the width of the stones are 3+mm. Can't remember offhand. The carat sizes are 0.09 carat each for the fancy grey-blue pears and 0.22 carat for the pink-purple cushion. You may have noticed that the pears are sticking out beyond the width of my finger, but do note that that is only because I requested for the stones to be set in a straight line (it is a convertible pendant as well and needs to lie flat.). Usually the side stones of a ring would be angled downwards, so the stones will probably fit nicely within the width of any finger.

If I find time to take photos of my pearl ring with tapered diamond baguettes on both sides (probably closest to what you are looking for), I'll post again. :)

This is a great help! Thank you for posting the pictures! So your middle finger is the 4.5? All your rings look very well proportioned on your fingers and look really nice. It definitely helps me know what I should be looking for in stones and settings. Oh yes - a pearly picture would be great too!

I am a size 4.75, but with long fingers. My ering is a 4.12ct 9.25mm sapphire. Hope this helps!

How pretty! I’m thinking a small ring size isn’t as much an issue as I thought it might be when it comes to gem size and setting (at least to a point.) Thanks for sharing!

@LittleRed For me, the only issue with larger stones is that they sit up higher on your hand, so you have to be more careful not to knock it around. I think with the size of your stone, adding side diamonds or even a halo will be no problem at all, and could actually help protect the cs, depending on the setting you choose.

As I stated above left is 4.5 and right is 4.75-5. My diamond is 1.01 carats, the zircon is 3 carats and the big coral ring is just to show you what a large ring with a big setting looks like on my finger.

You are very welcome, @LittleRed! I'm afraid I don't have many rings sized for any other fingers but the fourth one, so the padparadscha sapphire is the only one that fits on my 4.5-4.75 third finger. I found the paperwork though and it's 5 X 4.9mm. But I'm glad many of the PS ladies are chipping in with great pics!

Meanwhile, here is a pic of the pearl ring on my right hand fourth finger, which is a size 3. The diameter of the pearl itself is approx 10mm. I'm not sure how big the diamond baguettes are.

Thanks for the additional pictures! Your fingers look so pretty and long. Just seeing the ring on smaller sized fingers helps, so even your size 3s rings help me see how coverage would look. =) Thanks!

Is that a tanzanite or sapphire? Gorgeous! What size stone is that? It looks great on the hand! I also have small fingers- but mine are short childlike fingers so I generally shy away from larger stones.

It’s tanzanite - I think just shy of 3.5 carats (I got it about 17 years ago... going on memory) My fingers aren’t long & graceful. I can wear kids gloves or women’s XS gloves, otherwise the fingers are too long! If you love the look of larger stones I say go for it!

Both rings are really pretty! What is the green one?

I’ve been thinking about getting a tanzanite - the color is just so beautiful. You make larger stones on kid sized hands look so doable. I have no fears about it now. =)

Thanks! I think it looks so nice! Yes, I can relate to the kids gloves! Lol! Last year, I bought a beautiful sapphire just under 3 carats and set it with a halo. I wear a 4.5 and got the ring a bit big, as a 5. I look at my hand and wonder if maybe I shouldn't have set it in a halo... I feel like it looks too big... I'll attach a pic.

The green one is green tourmaline. Glad your fears are gone! I’m sure you can rock the big rings! ;)2 Can’t wait to see how you end up setting it!

I love it! I think it looks amazing on you. Not too big at all!

IMG_20180214_141352.jpg IMG_20170311_155215.jpg I have a size 5.75 middle finger and a size 4 ring finger. This ring is 10x10 mm. IMG_20180214_141552.jpg Here is a simple 8x6 tanzanite. Forgive the terrible quality of the stone, eBay lies! IMG_20180214_141122.jpg And here is a vintage diamond ring that has a .15 carat center and the setting head measures 5mm across. It's very dainty. I wear this mostly on my middle finger because I've been too lazy to get it sized and it still looks nice. IMG_20180214_141440.jpg
Lastly, sorry for the spam! This is a 7x6 tourmaline that was a little over 1 carat I believe. Sorry if the formatting of this post is horrendous. Forgive a first timer / lurker.

I love your eBay lies comment! Lol! However, I really like periwinkle tanzanite too, not just the deep violet.

Beautiful rings and fingers ladies.
Sigh, I need “huge” for my size 8 fingers.

Both my ring fingers are 4.5 and my middle/pointer/thumb are 5.5-6. I've never met anyone with hands smaller than mine who is not an actual child. I have tiny palms and short fingers lol. I find I am quite happy with stones between 6-8mm - anything else starts looking huge and limits what I can do with the setting. Usually that's 1-3 carats. I also like rings that are low set, which limits stone size somewhat as big stones are deeper and will naturally project more from the finger.

Don't recall how big this tourmaline is, but too big for me for more than very occasional wear.

Off topic, but Sparkle_ruckle, can you post some individual threads on your rings? In particular, I'd love to see the padparadscha as well as the heart-shaped diamond paired with the diamond band you're wearing in the haloed fancy colored diamond ring shot. Thank you!!
