Love the flowers, but the checkerboard clashes a little with the rest of the ring for me

Oh my. I put this on my watch list so fast I almost broke a nail. :naughty: Also a good compromise of 'shut up and go away' without making my SO feel like I've had more pseudo-engagement rings than I could shake a stick at. (Ring in av is #2, #1 died a prong-wreckage lost-stone death)

I wish more sellers would post full hand shots like this one, it looks so cute and dainty on the hand mannequin. Too small, though and 2 sizes on an antique setting is pushing it too far, I think.

I don't think two sizes on this design is too much. Do you like it?

Not as much as the ones you have posted! :cheeky:

Personally I'd buy one of these two tonight. I can't imagine more perfect rings for you, honestly. And I don't even NEED a ring like those OR like yellow gold for me and I want to hit BUY IT NOW! lol. That's how much I love both of them.

ETA: And if I had to pick one, that five stone would be my choice. The diamonds are really nice, are big enough that they will give you a nice amount of bling plus the deco design without feeling like an engagement ring and no sizing needed really put it over the top for me. At budget without going over. You can best offer at 315 with payment set for next week as one of the conditions and see what they say.

You know, that's exactly what I am thinking, I have been staring at it ever since. I keep looking at others and then going back to that one, thinking things like how I could still wear it when I have my 'real' e-ring, as opposed to one of the deco e-rings that I would have to wear instead of my e-ring or as travel rings, etc.

I could easily see wearing it with other rings and even stacked with a w-band or e-ring when I get them, what do you think?

I just read through some of the the thread and clicked on the last two links given. I love both of those rings! It really seems like that 5 stone is winner! The right size, right color metal, and will have enough of a presence to shut up your busy-body friends and coworkers but it won't comtend with future marital jewelry. Go for it!

If you only have $218 in your checking account right now and this is only a placeholder ring to stop tongues from wagging, wouldn't it be wiser to spend as little as possible on this so you can put the bulk of your money towards your bigger, more permanent goals and aspirations?

If you look at page 1, she mentions she has that amount in her savings account that she uses solely for clothes and other extras. You sound very condescending btw.

The $218 (will be $318 on Friday) is not in our checking account, it's in a savings account 'slush fund' that I use to make online purchases like work clothes, shoes, makeup, nail polish, etc. ::)

Don't worry, if we only had $218 in our checking account, I wouldn't even be thinking of buying anything at all! :cheeky: Also, I'd rather spend a little more since I can afford it, and love what I get, then spend a little less and only ever see it as a placeholder for something else I'd rather be wearing that will just sit unworn when I get my 'real' rings.

Talked to SO, and surprisingly, he gave me the go ahead and didn't even ask questions about price. "You know I don't care about jewellery, do whatever you want". So woop!

Edit: iugurl, you beat me to it! ;-)

Which one? Could you link it it?

Vintage, that band is gorgeous but it's a lot more than I had budgeted for. With christmas coming up, I'm hesitant to lay out that much cash ...

My vote...if I had a vote (hehe) would be for
http://www.ebay.com/itm/ANTIQUE-ART-DECO-18K-GOLD-PLATINUM-DIAMOND-RING-/330621537140?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item4cfa944b74

It really is gorgeous and has a nice presence to it. I think it's a ring you'll want to wear later as well. I think it offers more flexibility/options with it being band. It's also your size, which I think is a huge bonus...no extra outlay of cash (and time) to get it sized. Good metals (18k and platinum).

Good luck with whatever you choose. :)

Gypsy, that 5 stone ring is gorgeous and an incredible price! Gosh, you need to be an ebay personal shopper! I hope she got it! I think it would be hard to find a wedding band prettier than that one!

Just had the time and got lucky, honey. ;)) But thanks so much! I hope she got it too, it's a really special piece and I think the price is great bonus. I think it was perfect for her and I can't wait for handshots.

Plus, to be honest in the midst of searching for her last night I found something I really love for myself. If it stays at the price it is now, I'm going to be a very happy camper in a few days.

Galateia, I totally just wanted to say I understand where you are. My husband works with his hands constantly and leaves his ring off most of the time consequently so we both get asked all sorts of awkward questions. And I was once a size 0 with a size 2.5 ring- now I wear a size 14 with a size 5.25 ring. Not a fun feeling. (But I'll pass on the drug abuse and anorexia to get back to size 0!) So, no real helpful advice but lots of empathy.

I wear a $10 plain domed sterling band when I travel- maybe something similar, or a fun really cheap tungsten ring for a super quick place holder, and then contemplate a more permanent place-holder ring at leisure?

No, it wasn't me. UGH. I hope it wasn't a lurker who sniped it. @#%^$#@!! Back to square one, I guess. I'm pretty upset right now but I only have myself to blame for waiting- I was planning on having the money in my account before making the offer. Maybe I should email the seller and tell them I'll buy it for $300 if the sale falls through?

LGK - it's got to be a warm metal or a two-tone, because white metals are all wrong on me unless they're accenting a diamond.

Hugs honey. I've only got about an hour in me tonight if that. I didn't sleep a wink last night and I'm fading fast. So if I don't find anything tonight I'll look over the weekend, okay? We'll find you something lovely though. ((HUGS))

no...different size? hmmm...have to compare the listings...

oh, it is a little bit different. very much the same though. i actually think i like this one even better?

The diamonds seem to be different in terms of quality, I think? It could be the setting that is throwing off how they look, too.
