Ring Sizing Sticks

Quick question, when the ring is measured on those sticks, do you count the line that is covered by the ring, or do you count the line that the ring barely touches right before/lands on?

A 2mm ring should cover the line. A wider ring probably will stop just as the first edge covers the line. The problem is that the sticks are rarely "calibrated" accurately. What works on one stick may not relate to another stick. Besides, fingers swell and shrink during the day and over time. Any sizing has a 1/4 size tolerance as hand work from jewelers is not an exacting science.
