Ring sizing - help needed

OK - The GF and I are spending the weekend together (we live in different towns).

We have a nice dinner scheduled for Saturday. This means she''ll be bringing her jewelry. I can probably sneak one ring away without her noticing (or she''ll think she left it here). The problem I have is - she NEVER EVER wears a ring on her left ring finger.

Does anyone have any helpful/sneaky tips they could offer?

Here is what I did and it worked perfectly:
Go to the mall/maul with her for whatever purpose you contrive. Wander into jewelry stores which they make it easy to do by being on the corners. Direct her attention to some items of jewelry. Behind her back, motion to the staff with your fingers (watch for obscene gestures hehehe) to get her ring size for you. They will bring out their sizer.

That made me laugh because of the fact of me getting that gesture if I walk into a jewelry with her...
She's getting quire antsy at this point.

does she wear rings on on right ring finger? my right ring finger is very close in size to my left ring finger. my right is about half a size larger than my left (i assume it is because i am right handed?)

If she is getting antsy then so much the better !!!!
you can, if you do not overact it, throw her off then by playing dumb about diamonds, first time you have given it any thought, and making statements that would indicate you are a long way off from purchase...
Also, do not waste the opportunity to get an idea of what type of setting she likes. This is very important and can be even more difficult than finding the right diamond.

strike up a conversation saying you saw something on the internet that said dominant hand has bigger fingers and you think it''s crap... have her use her rings to verify. then you get a reference from right to left hands, and can figure out the size of her ring by keeping it.

it''s a long shot, but it could work, might be a little less subtle than jewelry store...?

+1 on just taking her into a store though. i did, even though she''s quite antsy as well. she knows i''m looking, but i''ve given her a very vague timeframe... so it works
