Does anyone know if Whiteflash sizes their platinum rings using a laser welder or a traditional soldier method? I asked Whiteflash today, but they said someone on Monday could answer that, but I thought I'd ask here anyway. Thanks.
There was a reason for my asking. I have a platinum ring I am sending back to Whiteflash for sizing. I have read about sizing nightmares people have had sizing platinum rings. I did some reading online about laser welding in general. From what I read it said that laser welding is stronger than soldering and that they use alloy and not solder in the process. I also read that diamonds do not have to be removed during laser welding. I remember a local jeweler telling me that when they size a ring with diamonds, they take all the diamonds out of the ring so they don't get damaged during the sizing process and then reset them. I talked with Whiteflash yesterday. They told me they use laser welding and did mention they wrap the diamond and it is completely unaffected during the process.
