For ring size between 4.5 and 5.0, your suggestion on an acceptable round center diamond stone .

Thanks for your expert opinion

Anything is "acceptable", depending on your age, social circles, preferences, general style, budget, etc....... There is no specific answer to this question without more information, and even then it is just generalities.

No more than 10 carats. 12, MAYBE, if her fingers are long.

Like people said, it varies widely by taste. Personally, I have that ring size, and small fingers, and I find I prefer something .75-.85ish, at the most. What I've found to matter more, though, is that the setting isn't too wide on the sides of the fingers, which made my fingers look even smaller.

The settings that I thought didn't look too chunky on my fingers had outlines that looked like:

----<>----- (where <> is the stone and --- is a pretty narrow band)

-------- (where is stones or filligree or whatever -- perhaps a 3-stone ring with pears or trills on the sides. these were mostly my favorites)

basically, something tapered to a narrow band. I just found it didn't overwhelm my fingers that way. However, it's very much a matter of choice. I hope my opinions help some!

Also, in the Show Me The Ring folder, you can see a lot of pictures, and people were generally asked for their ring size (you may need to look at the original threads). I could see what rings looked like on people with ring sizes about the same as mine.

PErsonally, I THINk at least 1 carat! Go for 1.25, that should look dynamite!

(since u have skinny fingers)

Yep, and your finger length.

I always forget about that finger length

ah, one other thing that I thought about skinnyish + short fingers and ring styles:

a delicate design (tapered like I described above) looked best, but I at least liked the shiny/interesting look of either having a lot of diamonds on it (pave band or three-stone ring... or both

), or having engraving on the band. it seemed to add to the presence of the ring for me, without adding to the size, and having it overwhelm my little hands.

*insert "this is my taste, your milage my vary" disclaimer*

Just my 2 cents... I wear the same ring size as you, and my personal tastes have always run toward wide bands and "chunky" rings. I know it's a little untraditional... but I have just never been attracted to delicate, dainty rings --- on me. I appreciate the beauty of them, and like them very much on other people, though. My new ring is a wide band with 2.5 tcw of princess and baguettes and a 1.53 center RB. It's big and gorgeous and I love it on my (small) hand. Like the others, I say go with whatever YOU love!
