Howdy,

I just moved to Las Vegas and I''m shopping for an engagement ring now. Can anyone recommend a store in/around Las Vegas?

Thanks,

Banky

I only have experience with two jewelry stores in town.

When I was shopping for an engagement ring, I read Pricescope extensively and then visited the MJ Christianson's in Boca Park in Summerlin.

The sales associate I spoke with (I think her name was Helen, not sure about that part) made me very uncomfortable. I knew I wanted around a 1 carat Princess and had all kinds of questions about cut and all that. Frankly, she belittled my inquiries about cut and wasn't pleased when I asked if I could get a Sarin. She had very few diamonds in stock and they were exceptionally expensive compared to what I was expecting from looking around on PS. When I mentioned that I had seen similar diamonds for sale at much better prices online, she commented that it was because their diamonds are much more superior in cut. (But they didn't have a sarin on any of the ones I looked at, so I dunno how to explain it.)

Overall, I found my experience there unpleasant. I would never go back. Again, this is only a single experience at a single store.

We finally ordered an e-ring which we were delighted with. The diamond was wonderful, but the size was a tad too small.

We had it resized at "The Jewelers of Las Vegas" but they didn't measure her correctly. She has on a college ring that is her perfect size. The sales person put the college ring on a sizer and wrote down the result. When we got the ring back it was waaayyy too big. We brought it back and spoke to another sales associate who said that the first sales associate was using the ring sizer incorrectly. He remeasured her and finally we got the ring back the right size.

So my $.02 say stay away fro MJ Christianson's (the one in Boca Park anyway. I don't know about the others.) and the Jewelers of Las Vegas is OK if you know what you want. (The workmanship on their resize was great, but the sales people aren't so good.)

Your mileage may vary.
