Ring + Setting; from different vendors

So I found a great setting from JA, and diamond that I really like from WF. What are the chances of "joining forces" and getting it set by WF by sending them the setting? What are the negatives about it? I don''t want to risk quality by trying to save a few $. Has anyone done this before, or is this sort of frowned upon by the companies? ... like I said, I don''t want to risk anything!

JA doesn''t sell settings solo. JA carries really nice stones, too, I think the best thing to do is just get it all from JA.

Well personally I wouldn''t want anyone setting anything without an independent appraisal of the loose stone and seeing it in person first. But not sure about sending it to another company.

or purchasing from WF and getting it set with JA... also, they would set it so that the serial number would show clearly too, right?

Well I think it''s most important to see a diamond in person than the setting but if you''re comfortable with it that''s personal preference. But I don''t understand your dilemma clearly then. Are you either near Houston or Baltimore? That would make sense then. Because if they aren''t near you and they are sending either the diamond/setting to you at least one of them would be in your possession, and it would be you sending it to the other company not having the company send it to the other company.

No, I''m in Las Vegas and I would have 1 company send me the stone/setting to my address; I''d inspect; then send the stone/setting to the other vendor... I would definitely not have them send to each other, I''d want to see 1 first

Then that's totally okay as long as you ask the vendor first if you can send them the diamond and what that would entail. I know Whiteflash has a fee of 75$ if you send them a diamond for them to set in their setting and some of their settings are only available to customers who buy their diamond... as well as you have to be insured because they won't insure it during the setting process. They won't ask where you got the diamond from if you send it to them and they're okay with it. But I would send the diamond and get it set where you are getting the setting done if possible since it's their setting. Warranties are always voided on settings if any other jeweler works on it.

Not a problem, though WF could probably custom make whatever style you want if JA won''t set an outside stone in their setting for you. Doesn''t hurt to ask WF, ya know?

Have WF set the stone, they will take financial resposibility for it during the setting process. And you do not need to see it prior to setting the diamond. An ACA is gorgeous and they have a great return policy, as does JA (though check if it applies if the setting has been "used"). Have it set and then sent to you, it is far easier. Most people buying RBs opt not to have a full appraisal done of the loose diamond if it is bought from a trusted PS vendor.

I''m in Las Vegas as well.

We just purchased a diamond through James Allen and had them send it to Brian Gavin for the setting. With the great reviews both of them have, I am not concerned at all about not seeing the diamond or setting before. I should hopefully be receiving my rings this week, I can''t wait!

Honestly it would be easier for you to have the diamond sent to you and then you send to JA, some settings are made to custom fit your diamond and it may be harder to have the setting sent to you, plus I would think the most important part would be the diamond
