Though decision for me to select a proper ring
WHat do you think is the most beautiful/durable/classic. I thought at the beginning I would go with pave settings because it seems to look so nice. THen I switched for channel because more durable and comfortable. I tough found that channel had a squared edge, thus making it look less nice. I finally started thinking that a solitaire would be the best bet, especially a cathedral type one, like this one :

or this one

My choice has to necessarily keep in mind what kind of wedding band will fit best. Will it be a plain wedding band or a channel type, or even a pave ring...

Pretty mixed up honestly!
Thank you for the help

Personally of those cathedral settings, I like the middle one best. It looks like a wedding band would sit flush with it. A cathedral solitaire is always a classic choice, and you could always have a couple of wedding bands to mix and match - pave, channel, plain, etc - as the mood suits (they're certainly cheaper than a whole new engagement ring!).

I agree with distracts. This is my favorite setting as well http://www.briangavindiamonds.com/engagement-rings/solitaire/v-prong-thin-shank-platinum-5686p
Of the three a wedding band will sit the most flush and I think the lines of it are a bit more graceful than the other settings.

The wonderful thing about a solitaire engagement ring is that you can put any style band with it and it will look good. Many ladies here have more than one band they wear and they can mix and match based on their mood. The most classic is a plain band, a pave band would look great as well. If she likes colored stones you could go with an alternating sapphire and diamond bezel band. All will look great and its really up to you.
The one thing I will say about band is that some women really like having the height and width of the band match that of the e-ring shank. I think this tends to matter more with plain and channel set bands with matching height being more important than matching width.
