This is probably a stupid question but I have a white gold ring that I don''t like. Is it possible to get it melted into a band or something???

I am not sure but I imagine it would be more expensive to melt and reuse the gold than just to buy a band you like.

It is possible for a jeweler to melt down your gold and use it in another ring, however it is usually best to mix-in a minimum of 50% new (plumb) gold to reduce porosity (pitting) in the cast and keep the new piece from being brittle.

Note that it is not a good idea to melt down platinum because it is more sensitive to re-casting than gold.
