I bought a beautiful champagne colored zircon from @lovedogs a while ago, then I felt like I'd been too impulsive and wasn't sure what I would do with it. I offered it for sale but have been perfectly happy that it didn't sell. Now, in need of something fun to think about, I started looking for ring setting inspiration and Iontacted David Klass with my idea. He's on board and I will send the stone to him sometime soon. But I wanted to share the direction I'm going for thoughts and feedback if you like!

The zircon is very lightly pink champagne, almost 9 mm. I found my inspiration in a pearl pendant on Ruby Lane. The stone will have a halo in this style, and a split shank based on the Stuller mounting, with the wraps, but rounded instead of pointed. 14k antique yellow gold.

That Stuller mounting is a lovely option all by itself, but I just love the look of the halo.

Also, I feel like someone should buy the inspiration Ruby Lane pendant!

@Rfisher, you're magical!! Wow! Yes, that is it! David will work on halo proportions and what's best for the stone. And we haven't talked about matte vs polished finish for the shank. Your creation helps me visualize it, though -- thank you!:kiss2:

I don’t know what you’re looking for -
But can easily see this shank matte w/ soft knife edge and milgrain on the knifeedge ridge, the split part of the shank, too!

Your inspiration is really amazing, and @Rfisher did such a good mock up (as usual!).
I kind of think the whole ring in matte finish would really make the sparkly stone pop!

Here are some quick examples of 14k yg matte or brushed
Or even with the stone you have, would you consider 14k rose gold in matte finish? DK has particularly nice rose gold.

@CHRISTY-DANIELLE, I do like the matte look a lot! I have thought about rose gold being a good choice, flattering to the tone of the zircon. But I know myself too well -- which I guess is a good thing -- I'm just hooked on yellow gold (woman of the 80s :lol:). I'm afraid I would regret it.

With matte gold, does the finish last without needing any kind of touch-up? My only close experience is my husband's brushed finish wedding band which now is perfectly polished after 32 years, no sign of the brushed finish left. (Obviously could have it redone, but it's kind of cool to see the evolution.)

If your PS name is a clue to your birth year, we are of the same era. ;)
Yellow gold will look great too! The matte finish will eventually have some shine, like a shiny finish will eventually have some matte. You can have the finish redone if you ever feel it needs it. Or if you decided you didn't like the matte, you could have it polished to a high shine. No wrong answer here.
 
My ring is finished and on its way to me this week! I love the photos and I'm sure I will love it more in real life. Here are some of David's photos, and there is a video on Instagram. It's antique yellow gold and polished except in the dip of the halo. 0.10 ctw in the little diamonds.
