Hello, I’ve been looking at engagement rings for my girlfriend and it’s been an adventure. She picked out a ring and I’ve got her size. That’s the easy part! I’ve been trying to learn as much as I can about diamonds using this site. My guidelines for my diamond search are an Excellent cut, F color, and an “eye clean” SI1/S12 clarity. I wanted to run a diamond that I found by some folks here to make sure I am not missing anything.

The ring is a Gelin Abaci Tension Ring model TR-044 in white gold:
http://www.gelinabaci.com/html/product_detail.php?id=148
Here are the specs on the ring:
Shape: Round
Carat Weight: 1.22
Cut: dS PREFERRED
Color: F
Clarity: SI1
Certificate: GIA
Depth %: 61.4
Table %: 56
Polish: Excellent
Symmetry: Excellent
Fluorescence: None
Measurements: 6.88*6.93*4.24

GIA Cert: http://www.dimendscaasi.com/includes/showFile.asp?stockNum=11980

If I am missing anything, please let me know. I am still learning and want to make sure I have all the information in front of me before purchasing. Thanks in advance!

Jason

Looks promising. Can you request an idealscope image from DS?

Numbers on the diamond are very good, can DS provide an Idealscope image? (EDT: Too slow

)

Make sure it is eye-clean to your standards, especially as a tension setting exposes the stone to being viewed from a multitude of angles.

:P

I can request an idealscope image.

I was planning on going and looking at the diamond to make sure it''s clean based on my own opinion. I am new at looking at diamonds, but I do have a good eye for details.

DS should have an ASET scope for you to view the stone, so learn how to interpret the image and compare it with your stone.

DS also carries craftedbyinfinity stones that is carried by highperformancediamond, so you can compare them side by side and with the ASET. Good luck viewing and have fun. :)

Thank You! I quickly read that last week, but will go through the site tonight after work.

On the above diamond, did anything from the provided information jump out as a negative?

nope, numbers look good.

I noticed I didn''t post the price:

Price: $7,486.00
Bank Wire: $7,337.00

Is this competitive?

ya, about there.

Use the diamond prices link above and input your diamond specs. Just compared it with AGS/GIA stone, not other labs as those are discounted in trade because they are generally considered to be softer on grading.

Thanks, I actually found the exact diamond for cheaper.

Cash Price: $6,756.36
Credit Card Price: $6,911.76

Ya, DS is priced slightly higher as it maintains store-front. Ask them if they will price match or at least some discount. :P

You have to do a PS search and the price listed there is the discounted price.

Hey jason05gt,

I don''t mean to hijack your thread, but I am also looking at a DS preferred stone. Have you spoken to DS and happen to know whether these stones (DS preferred) are kept in house?

Again, sorry to post this on your thread, but I am between a rock and a hard place and this piece of information would really help me out.

Thanks,
Tyler

Tyler,
The one above is an "overseas" diamond and not in stock. I''ve selected a couple of diamonds and unfortunately they aren''t in physical stock. I''ve been working with Isaac and I do know that they do have some in-stock. You best bet is to email them and see if the ones you are interested in can be viewed in person.

Jason

Here is the one I picked:

Carat Weight: 1.23
Cut: dS PREFERRED
Color: G
Clarity: SI1
Certificate: GIA
Depth %: 60.6
Table %: 58
Polish: Excellent
Symmetry: Excellent
Fluorescence: None
Measurements: 6.90*6.96*4.20

http://www.dimendscaasi.com/includes/showFile.asp?stockNum=10909503

I looked at it in person and it was eye clean and the ASET looked great as well.

I can''t see the cert on the link. Can you please post the pavilion angle and the crown angle?

CA= 35
PA= 40.6

Numbers look great. Do you have an image or can they get an IS?

ETA I nee you saw an ASET. Looks great then! Good choice!

Here is the ASET
