Ring Dimensions, PLEASE HELP

I was out ring shopping the other day and found a ring that I really like. They showed me the GIA certification and it had all these dimensions on it. Could someone please let me know if these are good for a princess cut diamond (Juell Cut from Rogers and Hollands)?

Depth: 71.3%
Table: 73%
Crown: 9.5%
Pavilion: 59.5%

I didn''t write down the angles they had on the sheet, unfortunately. They also had a 1 ct diamond that was not Juell cut (their best cut) and all it had were the following numbers for dimensions.

5.46 x 5.36 x 4.10 mm

Not sure what that means. Is there any way to tell which cut is better? The price tag on the Juell cut is significantly higher so I assume that is the better cut but is it worth the price?

Unfortunately Princess diamonds cannot be properly evaluated by the numbers, so you will be best going by your own eyes in this case. I expect the Juell is a branded cut? I am not familiar with it personally. I don't know if you would consider looking online at some of the in house Princess diamonds offered by some of the PS vendors? Very often the cut analysis has been done for you, so useful tools such as www.winkjones.com so you can see how they differ to the stones you are considering. Generally online prices may be less than store jewellers.

5.46 x 5.36 x 4.10 mm - these numbers you refer to are the length and width of the diamond, and the depth. That will give you the dimensions of the stone.

I would suggest taking a look at some well cut Princess, as it is cut which gives a diamond it's beauty, among the inventory stones of the above vendors. If you want to pursue the stones you have seen, then you will have to trust your eyes and ask if you can look at the stones away from the store lights, which can give you a better idea of how a diamond will look in more ' real life' conditions.

Also concerning the Juell, if it is a branded cut, then it is likely to carry a price premium, but whether that is worth it to you or not, only you can say. Maybe someone will be familiar with the Juell and can chime in.

I agree with Lorelei. I don''t see anything dreadful about the numbers you posted but that''s about all I can tell about the princess stone. They need to be seen and without a picture, I can''t tell you if it is well cut or not. The name tells me that this is possibly a branded cut, which I''ve never heard of though. if you want to be sure of getting a super princess cut stone and without the branding premium, look for AGS0 princess cuts. They are guaranteed sparklers as they are graded according by cut (ASET tested).
