I am curious what the upper portion of this Victorian ring conversion may have been originally-any ideas? The interior is threaded. Were the threads added later or original-any guesses?

May we please see a picture of tje ring from the top, just to be nosy !,
its very intriguing and im curious

This is really interesting.
Can you post pics of all angles, not just close-ups?
I cant quite tell exactly where the threads are.
This may help to figure it out.

Wow, loving the top view!

If we weren’t talking jewelry that comment would be wildly inappropriate!

My guess is that it was part of a set, for a brooch or ring.

The section where the threads are looks larger than normal, because you normally see attachments more like this:

Very pretty though!

@stracci2000 The threads are in the center area of the ring under the band.

What is the millimeter size of this topper? I have a bracelet that has a diamond disc that is very old that was a component piece of something that reminds me of yours.

@elizat the top of the ring is 23mm. The convertible brooch you posted is lovely!

@YadaYadaYada not sure where my previous comment to you went, but I wanted to say thanks for the chuckle, it was much needed :)

@elizat I’d love to see your bracelet with the diamond disc!

@glitterata I had wondered about a hairpin/hatpin also. Now I feel like my hair/head needs something sparklie to wear.

@kgizo I wondered that as well. I have also pondered things like a button cover, the top of an ultra fabulous cane, or part of a cap of a super cool perfume bottle:lol-2:

I Iike all those ideas!!! Your ring had a fabulous prior life and has wonderful jewelry karma.

It may have had a compartment to hold a lock of hair....

@kgizo With all pre-owned jewelry, especially antique jewelry, I always try to imagine its prior life and hope the pieces were beloved and come with some positive energy :)

@MjK1 I had considered that as well, but feel like it was a component to either a set or had some other use.

@ForteKitty Thank you for posting the link to that piece, it is really an intriguing and beautiful Brooch! I have wondered since noticing the threading on the inside of the disc, what the other piece(s) that go along with it might include.
