Ring appraised for insurance, results way too low, HELP!!

Re: Ring appraised for insurance, results way too low, HELP!

I have been with you since early this morning in spirit! I saw where denverappraiser chimed in this morning, so there was no need for me to add my two cents from then on! Look at how many people jumped to your rescue! :wink2:

I am soooo like you in that I let things get bigger in my mind than what they are! Humans! What else can I say, except that I am glad that things worked out in your favor!

My Best! :wavey:

Dougsgirl!! so proud of you!!! I had a similar experience with my old 3 stone and it was Gypsy, Dreamer and other PSers who gave me the courage to stand up for myself and confront a situation that was not right. Sometimes, those "big girl pants" come in handy and then after, you're just so impressed with yourself for handling a tricky situation - great job, DG!!

I'm so glad this had a happy ending for you. Some good information gleaned for me too.
Thanks, me too!! And I'm glad my little "freak out" might be helpful for someone else! ;)
When I first read the appraisal I felt like I was punched in the stomach! I feel so relieved now!
And you know... I am always trying to teach my kids the importance of advocating for themselves, and this was a really good reminder for ME as well. Now I just need to make sure I am just as diligent when I take the information to my insurance agent!!
Lots of good advice on this forum, for sure!!

I totally thought of you before I made the call today!! I remember you standing up for yourself and demanding a full refund instead of allowing them to remake your ring again. Those situations are SO stressful! But you totally inspired me! Thanks for the encouragement!!

Yep! I have THAT T-shirt too! After I make my self a nervous wreck, I remember to pray & ask for help!

Thank you for the invite to hang around. I am going to be out of pocket most of this week & part of next, but I may get to check in & play here! =)

Re: Ring appraised for insurance, results way too low, HELP!

I have been very fortunate to have met and interacted with nearly every jewelry appraiser that has any sort of reasonable credentials over my years in the business. When I see a problem that might be simply solved, it is just easier and better to go right to the source of the problem and see what can be done to alleviate it. The Internet is a powerful tool which can help or hurt a person's reputation very quickly. Getting the wheels in motion to repair any mistakes is just one of the many reasons I have found the Pricescope community so worthwhile since 2000.

Thank you again for your willingness to investigate on my behalf. I sincerely hope it did not appear as if I was trying to harm anyone's reputation! My main concern was for ME and how to handle it if a mistake had been made, and how to question someone's work who is vastly more educated than I am. I didn't want to come off arrogant or foolish, and I asked the PS community mainly to find out what their experience was with insurance and appraisals when dealing with branded diamonds.

I agree with you that the internet is a powerful tool that can cause good or harm very quickly!! I feel like I got a lot of great advice here and I was very please with how the appraiser dealt with my questions. I just needed a little moral support before I could pick up the phone and call... Silly I know, but this is all new territory for me.

It is wonderful that we have people like you who are willing to take time out of their day to help a total stranger!
Keep up the good work!
