My wife is 6 feet tall with a medium body type.

What size round diamond stud earrings should I purchase without looking too small or too large for a woman of her stature?

I don''t think you could go wrong with 1 ct total weight (.5 ct each ear). I wouldn''t go any smaller than .5 ct total weight (.25 ct each ear). I am 5''9", with a medium build, and my earrings are 1.16 total weight. I would have honestly been happy with a little smaller (like 1 ct total weight) but that''s what the jeweler had in stock when we were shopping. Let us know what you decide!

Honestly, personal preference. In fact I think the earlobes are what determines the size of earrings you are most comfortable with or the "right size" My mom has quite large earlobes for her petite frame, whereas I have very small lobes for my petite frame. What is your budget? maybe some of us can help you find some nice earrings

I agree the size of the earlobes is what might determine what looks good. I have a pair of studs that are .72 ctw and I think they are a perfect size on my small earlobes. I don''t care for anything over 5mm in size. Does she wear studs now? What size are they?

I agree with the others who have said that it is the earlobe size that really matters when it comes to diamond studs. I am only 5'2" and my studs are 1.25 carats each but they don't look all that large because I have such big earlobes. That being said in my opinion I think anything between .5 carat each to 1.5 carat each would be wonderful if they are well cut stones and fit in your budget. Happy shopping!

By the way if you click on the Show Me the Ring forum there is a thread that shows different sizes of studs on different people's earlobes to help give you an idea of what you want.

I`m planning to start looking for my first pair of diamond studs myself in the next few months, and I`m planning to go for 1 tcw. I think it''s a nice, substantial but everyday size.

Definitely ear lobe size matters. I think 1 ctw looks great on pretty much anyone (esp. if they are ACAs or fantastic OMCs

) but it also depends on the setting and the look you want. IMO with the same sized diamonds, bezels, whiteflash W prongs, martini, and 4-prong basket settings all look really different.

Unfortunately, ears/ear lobes and noses never stop growing (unlike other body parts) so it's impossible to judge the size of an ear lobe by height/weight. For example I'm tall and possibly smaller than many BUT I have the biggest, ugliest ear lobes in history! So, for me, the bigger the carat weight the better.

There's a thread in the "Show me your ...." section for earring studs. Have a look through that and judge which earlobe looks like hers and then you'll have a better idea of carat size. Edit: Apologies to Sundial who had already given you this information (I should really read through the whole thread first :) )
