Hi there,
My father was a manufacturing jeweler (in Melbourne, Australia) and he has handed down to us a Matthey Garrett rhodium plating unit which probably dates to the 1960's and was last used in the mid 1990's. I'm wondering if anyone would be able to suggest any jewelry clubs or teaching institutes or any one else in the Melbourne (Australia) area to whome this piece of equipment might be useful. It seems a shame for it to be just stuck in the back shed and ultimately thrown out.
Any suggestions greatly appreciated.
Thanks
Poitr

Dear Poitr,

I applaud your plan to support a local school and, beiing on the other side of the world, I don't have any suggestions for who is there but the local jewelers may be able to help you find a school nearby. I do have one warning. The bottle of chemicals that is used with the machine you have is VERY poisonous stuff. If there's a bottle of liquid in the box with the machine, treat it carefully and if the end of the line is that you decide to throw things away, don't bury that bottle in the landfill.
