rhodium plated over yellow gold

Whitehall jewellers sales told me that rhodium plated over yellow 14K gold band lasts at least 10 yrs if i don't take it in for buffing so often. it'll lasts longer than white gold. is this true? there was yellow diamond band that i like but i want it in white gold...

I have second thoughts over plating although i do see yellow gold plating on fake godl jewelries lasts long long time too.

any input is appreciated.

I had a yellow gold ring dipped in rhodium. It lasted all of 6 months wearing it everyday. But, I am no expert.

I also notice that my white gold rings start to look yellowish in about a years time too.
