Rhodium "dipping"/replating and engraving...

out of curiousity- what happens if you have a ring engraved on the inside and being that its white gold, after a few years you want to get it dipped again?? Will this negatively impact the engraving??
 
I don't think it will, but I'm not 100% sure.
 
I had hubby's ring engraved and this just dawned on me...
 
Does it have to be dipped again? I've found most men don't care if their gold has a tint to it.. most don't even notice :)
 
Ahh, hubby's ring...no, it won't matter a bit. However, as bean said, it may not even need it. My hubby's ring is wg and he's worn it for 10 years and it hasn't needed re-plating. It doesn't look noticeably yellow to me and he could care less. :o
 
I just got my ring replated. It has intricate detailing and it looks the same.

It shouldn't - the plating is usually something like 2microns thick I believe? For reference - a hair is ~100microns diametre
