I can see only a minor difference, but I do prefer the way it looks in the after photos. I don't think it makes your diamond look smaller though.
Same here! I like it better after the prong tips were shaved down a little. Many here work hard to get the prong tips as tiny as possible so as not to take away from the diamond. And I think the stone is set plenty high enough.

It's a beautiful ring!

Moko, I don''t remember your previous post, but I just wanted you to know that I think your ring is very beautiful - before and after! That ring is one that I had been considering for myself. I don''t recall it being sold as six prongs, though. Does it come in both four and six prongs? I tend to favor four prongs. And I think that your diamond looks just as big in the "after" as in the "before." Enjoy it!

I am no expert but I actually like the after shots better too. I think it just takes a little getting used to.

Moko, I have to agree with the others here. Even before I read the responses, I was looking at the photos thinking "where is the change?".
I admit there is a slight change, but imho its a definate imptovement! Its not like your ring wasn''t lovely to start with, but I think that your jeweler has done a great job and the profile/side view looks alot nicer.

I agree that there is No change in the appearance of the diamond - if anything I think the new prongs enhance the size as they are less intrusive on the top.

I would suggest not to worry as you have a gorgeous ring, the prongs look really secure from your photos and seem tight on top of the diamond. I hope you can enjoy your ring now!

ditto - I like the "after" and the ring is BEAUTIFUL!!!!

I prefer the original setting. I think it is more in proportion to the overall appearance of the ring. If you like it better than the redo, why not ask the jeweler to change it one more time. If this will make you happy, then I say "go for it"

Thank you so much for your warm messages!
I admit my jeweler did a wonderful retouching job and probably I just needed to get used to the little change of look. I am going to wait and see if the new look will keep bothering me or not. If it does, I will take your word, Marian. I was surprised just little change on prongs makes the same ring look different (in my eyes anyway)..

Venice, yes, you are right. This model usually comes in only four prongs. I loved four prongs in this setting too, but I wanted 6 prongs only for security reason. So, I ordered it in 6 prongs, which was a special order, and cost me extra $500 for just making 6 prongs. But I think Scott Kay did a great job and I am so happy with the outcome. After I received my ring, I compared this with the same model in 4 prongs, but they look really similar. Modifying the number of prongs did not ruin the original design at all. I also appreciate my local jeweler who spent a lot of time with me and made a great effort in communicating with Scott Kay to make this happen.

Once again, thank you for all your kind words and input!!

I think the smaller prongs are definately a huge improvement. The first setting looks more old fashioned with the big clunky prongs. Sort of like what you might have got made up in times when people werent as fussy! To me the finer prongs look much prettier and younger. It looks like a newer setting that has employed all the advantages of modern technology and better available equipment to make these settings!!! I dont think the diamond looks smaller or is set too low. It actually looks more `free` now that the excess metal is gone.

But, you need to be happy and it can be a shock when things are changed in a way that you did not anticipate. I understand the stress involved in these custom made rings and subsequent adjustments. I would love to see a hand shot to see if there is any thing that stands out as a bad proportion. As it looks now, I think it is really pretty.

Thank you Sharon, I have never thought that way.
But I know what you mean. In fact I am getting like the new look more and more these days. Today, I made up my mind - I will leave it as it is.

Thank you everyone! You really helped me out.
