Resizing Stamped Platnium setting

I am having a Stamped Platnium ring resized from 6.5 to 5.5. I bought the stamped setting because I was told that as it was cut from a plate of platnium that it would be stronger than a setting made by pouring molten platnium into a cast. Will resizing this type of setting to a smaller size result in the a loss of durability since that ring will be cut and then soldered together again?
