resizing a ring

Hi
do you know how long it could take to resize a platinum ring - make it smaller? How can i protect my little stone inside that i get back the same one?

I haven't had a platinum ring sized, but I've had many gold rings sized. They have taken anywhere from 20 minutes, with me watching to a week or so. If you are concered about your stone, maybe you can call a local jeweler with a good reputation, and ask if you can make an appointment to have your ring sized while you watch? The worse they can do is say no. Good luck!

Hi, I just had my e diamond reset and resized. i will tell u it took all of 40 minutes. about the diamond, what a good jeweler will do is map your diamond. What this means is that they will look through loop and find a significant flaw or flaws and map it on a paper. Then they will have you look at the same flaws. Once you confirm the flaws and they are properly mapped they begin the work. When you receive the ring they get the map and have you look for the flaws whiched were mapped out. This will allow you to confirm that it is your diamond. Remember that this is done on premises and returned within an hour. You can wait there for it. But because the diamond is out of your site the mapping is very important.
