I would to have my engagement ring reset from a 14k gold setting to either white gold or platinum. A reputable jeweler recommended I have it rodium plated instead. Is this a good idea? How long will it last? Will there be any negative effects to the diamond? Appreciate any thoughts or comments. :snore:

I say go with platinum.

You can do a search by clicking on the search button on the menu bar above. Search for "rhodium" and you will find many threads on the topic.

I'm with Lawmax, go with the Platinum.
It would be a very simple process and the turnaround time is usually about 4 to 5 days.
If it's a solitaire, what you could do is have your local jeweler remove the stone(s) in your presence for you to keep.
Weigh the ring in PENNYWEIGHTS, not grams.

For an estimate on how much your ring will weigh in Platinum is this:

14K Gold pennyweight X 1.75 = Platinum pennyweight
Try not to pay more than $80/pennyweight
