My mother gave me her old ring that I have always loved. It has to be over 30 years old. I am not able to wear the ring because the shank broke and the prongs are not on the corner, which will cause me to chip the corners. I would love to reset it in a new ring. I would like to see if any of you would have any good suggestions. Especially because I rarely see 4 stone rings out there. I have no clue of the specs on the ring but I would guess they are maybe .3ct each, F color.
Any suggestions or opinions would be much appreciated!

What about alternating them with vertical baguettes? |b|sqr|b|sqr|b|sqr|b|sqr|b|

lovely ring!

You might want to add one more stone and/or have it set in a setting with less metal. Something like this, perhaps.

Are those French cut stones? It is a very pretty ring.

You could also augment if with similarly cut sapphires - either on the ends or alternating.

That''s a gorgeous set of stones there! I think either of the two suggestions you have gotten so far would work really well. I would just go with less metal all around to really let in the light and let those babies sparkle!

Thank you so much for that example. Pictures help a lot. I would probably just keep it as a 4 stone ring or take out one and make it 3 stone ring. There is one stone that has a blue floresence. So maybe I''ll take that one out and make it into something else. Still not quite sure though, because I kind of want to keep all stones together for my own sentimental value. I probably could not add another stone to it because I am on a budget now....planning my wedding (who knew it would cost so much!)

I am not really totally sure about the cut. I have an asscher e-ring, its similar but not the same...it does not have the windmills.

Yeah, I think they are French cut. My emerald and diamond ring is made up of French cut stones.

If you are on a budget then I''d say reset it with less metal like the pic I posted. I''m sure there are lots of other examples out there too. I''d also keep it all together [the 4 stones, that is] for sentimental reasons as you mentioned.

In must be so nice to have such a lovely heirloom!

I love this idea - turning into a 3 stone ring, maybe with alternating white sapphire (?) baguettes, maybe not, but taking the one that has flourescence and turning into a pendant.

I''ve always loved this ring, so I can''t wait to see how you choose to reset it.

Do you folks know any good online vendors that could give me some idea samples and that makes custom settings at a resonable price?
