Resetting diamond into a rose gold solitaire

Hello all,

You may have seen my question below about how to clean a rose gold ring -- my new Tiffany Metro ring in rose gold

I'm considering re-setting my original engagement diamond into a rose gold solitaire, something like Brian Gavin's Tapered Tiffany Style Half Round: http://www.briangavindiamonds.com/engagement-rings/solitaire/tapered-tiffany-style-half-round-18k-rose-gold-5540r18

I love how the rose gold looks with my skin tone, and want the versatility of a solitaire so that it can be paired with different stacking bands. Plus I have a 2 year old daughter and a baby boy on the way, so pave may not be right for my lifestyle right now... maybe for my 20-year re-set . Right now my diamond is in a platinum setting by Simon G that has some princess-cut side stones and milgraining, which, to be honest, I helped pick out but ultimately have never been in love with.

Anyway, any other suggestions other than the Brian Gavin? I'd like to stay under $1,500, so no Leon Mege Princessa for me. I looked on James Allen's website and through some of the SMTB history and Brian Gavin seems to be the top recommended choice...

You could get a quote from your local jeweler for Stuller.

I know that my jeweler generally comes in less than on-line vendors, but nothing beats the tiny BGD claw prongs.

If you don't like the look of that particular Solstice head, there are variations of it: peg or integrated, high / low, 4 prongs, 6 prongs. Some pics in this old thread:

Ritani doesnt sell a tiffany repro, lots of places do though if you are looking for one, people usually say the Vatche one is the best.

But i bring up ritani because they have really lovely solitaires, will do them in rose gold though they arent on there website, and my favorite solitaire from them in 18k is still less than 550!

Take a gander at there settings, all but like 1 are under your budget. I know you cant get it set strait though ritani but take it to a local B&M or send it to where you got it if its from WF or GOG and they would set it.

Ive been strongly considering doing the same thing for my pear and i love those ritani ones, and im sold on them because of how well my bezel solitaire is made.
