Resetting diamond bands?

Have any of you reset a diamond band from one style to another, using the same amount of diamonds and melting down the same metal? Is it worth the $$?

Any idea on ball park cost?

I’m thinking of resetting my 7-stone signed pieces band (2 shared prongs between stones into a floating diamond look, with larger spacing between each diamond. If it is too expensive to rebuild a band (over 1k), would I be better off getting a whole new band? Bottom picture is current band style, top picture is the “floating diamond” style I want.

I'm getting a band made with my diamonds and was quoted 2200 to 2500 aud depending on how much gold is used. If you already have gold it'll be cheaper. I'm not sure it'll be less than 1k usd though?

This will 100% depend on the labour cost charged by your jeweler and if the jeweler will accept scrap gold towards your piece or not.
