Family ring pictured below. Estimated: 1.25 carat center stone (maybe J color). 0.17 carat each side stone. The platinum setting has a number of problems: super thin shank at the bottom due to polishing/repair, multiple mushed prongs. I think re-setting will be a better option than a complicated and expensive repair job.
My first though is to have ID Jewelry reset the center diamond into a halo, or a bezeled halo to protect the girdle of the stone (small chip). My wife has a 3-stone engagement ring and a halo would be a nice change of pace. ID gave me a rough estimate of $1600 or $1700 to do something similar to this:

Any other recommended jewelers, in the same or lower price range, who take outside diamonds?
And what would you do with the pair of 0.17 carat each diamonds? Too small for earrings?
