Hello PS'ers,

This is my first time posting in the Colored Stones forum. I recently got engaged and am now in the market for a wedding band. At first, we were considering getting a diamond pave band to match the engagement ring but my fiance has changed her mind and would like something with color, preferably a light blue. I have found that Topaz is the color she likes the most. I have googled around but am uncertain if the websites I am coming across are reputable. What I am looking for is a Half-Pave Topaz band, around +/-2.0mm in width.

Any assistance to point me in the right direction would be greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance!

Wedding bands are going to take a lot of abuse daily, which I don't think topaz will handle well unless you are up to replacing them frequently. This is why diamonds and corundum are very popular as both e-rings and w-bands.

As Chrono said- topaz is not a good idea. How about a sapphire band? This band from Etsy seller Yogosapphiresandmore might work. Yogo sapphires are a pretty cornflower blue and all natural and untreated.

I never thought about the durability of the stones, thank you for this information.

Sapphires are a shade too dark for her liking. She likes the softer/lighter shades of colors.

Depending on your budget you could also reach out to Brilliantly Engaged or Brian Gavin (links to their respective eternity/half eternity bands: http://www.brilliantlyengaged.com/eternity-bands-pcid-39.html,,,,, http://www.briangavindiamonds.com/wedding-bands/womens-wedding-bands); either should be able to source pale blue sapphires in a color similar to topaz.

BTW, congrats on your engagement and welcome to CS! :wavey:

Thank you!

I guess my search continues. :wall: Could anyone direct me to some vendors who specialize in colored stones? Thank you.

*Sorry, I messed up quoting and didn't do it right**

Lighter sapphire might work (montana or just the light blue vs. darker). I'd keep looking around for a band with the lighter blue. I'll do some internet searching tonight too :)

I'm in agreement that sapphire would work better, especially since they come in lighter shades of blue too. The first place that came to mind for me when I saw your post is JuliaB Jewelry -- She could create something custom for you. She's on Etsy: https://www.etsy.com/shop/JuliaBJewelry From what I've seen, people have had good experiences working with her.
